Your mindset is your greatest asset! But it is also what may be holding you back from taking that next step in your life. Are you ready to reframe your mindset so that you can step more confidently into your purpose?

The beauty of believing that you are in a place of expectation in your life is trusting and knowing that God universe source desires to give you anything that you desire in life. But on the flip side, when you're living out of a place of worry, that's when you're playing the what if game. So today on the podcast, we're going to talk about how to go from a mindset of worry to a mindset of expectation.

Andrea Crisp 0:50
Hey there, welcome to The Couragecast. My name is Andrea Crisp, and I am your host, and I am so excited to be joining you today to be talking about a new dimension of expectation.

Maybe in your life, you have been in a place where you are just like, Yeah, you know, I don't really expect anything. I don't really put anything out there. Because well, you know, I'm never sure that it's going to come back to me. Well, one of my friends, not that long ago actually told me that she does not expect things to happen. So when I asked her why that is, she responded and told me Well, you know what, honestly, I'm just afraid of being disappointed. And that is no way to live.

When we don't expect things to happen in our lives, just for fear of disappointment, of rejection of even, you know, uncertainty in our lives, we get a whole lot of nothing back. Okay? And how sad is it to go through life with this belief that God source universe does not want to deliver anything that would help us give us prosperity, or abundance or happiness or joy within our lives.

So today, if you are struggling with worrying, if you're struggling with that uncertainty, you're struggling with thinking that there's just not enough and you want to raise your level of expectation, you want to elevate your mindset, then I want you to stay tuned, because we're going to talk about how you can do that. But before we do that, before we get to that today, I want to share with you that I am starting a brand new coaching program called well... duh duh duh... Elevate Your Mindset. And we're going to do that exact thing, we're going to go through the five key shifts that I believe every coach and entrepreneur needs to make within their life in business, to really move past those limiting beliefs, of comparison of lack of feeling like you're not enough, so that you can start living out of a place of expectation, because here's the thing, friend, what it is that you are putting out into the universe, you attract back to you.

So if you're living out of a lack mindset out of a limited belief, you are going to attract that back into your life and into your business. And that might be the reason why things are not moving along as fast as you'd like them to. So when you shift those beliefs, you start elevating your mindset, you're going to see that you start attracting new things into your life and into your business, and is going to totally shift the trajectory of where you have been going. So I will put all of the information in the show notes and you can take a look at it. We're starting May 12th. love to have you join me for elevate your mindset.

Okay, so let's get back to the topic at hand, which is really stepping into a new dimension of expectation. So last week on the podcast, I was sharing with you what happened to me personally when I went to Florida, and I had this huge revelation around the fact that I get to decide what it is that I want. And I really felt like this was a huge pivotal moment for me because it really helped me to see that I am truly add cause for my life. Now if you haven't had a chance to listen to the episode, go ahead and pause this one and go back and listen and then you can jump back to this one again.

But today, I want to talk to you about kind of the next point which is setting your expectation. Because if you're not expecting things to happen in your life for good things to happen, then you're on the flip side where you are in a State of worry. Now Bob Proctor talks about it this way, the same amount of energy really is fueling both worry and expectation. And if you've ever found yourself in a state of worry, a state of uncertainty, maybe around your health, maybe around your finances, maybe around your relationships, you know, that it is likely that you continue to attract that into your life. And you're like, Yeah, I keep getting sick, I keep losing relationships, I don't really have what I want in my life or in my business. And that is because what it is that we put out there is what is coming back to us attracting back basically, like a magnet, because we are energetic beings. And everything around us is energy. So we are attracting like to us. So it is so important that we shift from a state of worry of lack of limitation to a state of expectation. And the beauty of all of this is that you get to decide what it is that you want. Going right back to last week's episode, right? You get to decide what it is that you desire, and expect out of the different contexts in your life, whether they be health, finances, relationships, your business.

For years, I worried myself into toxic relationships, I worried myself into jobs that just weren't fulfilling and ended up getting fired many, many, many, many, many, many times. I was in jobs that were so stressful, and disempowering that it left me feeling as though I was never going to move forward within my life. And those worrying thoughts really spiraled into anxiety and depression. And that kept me from being able to really build the business, the coaching business that I desired. And it took me many years to really understand and pull all of this kind of apart, seeing how I limited myself, how I had really set myself up to be in this place of uncertainty and worry, and never really, truly seeing that I could expect something amazing to happen. And what I didn't know, then, but I know now is that worry is actually a self fulfilling prophecy. So I was literally attracting those negative things into my life by worrying about them by thinking about them. And when I was in my, you know, beginning stages of coaching business, I was doing the exact same thing as well. And in fact, I remember meeting a good friend of mine, and he was telling me how hard the coaching industry is and how so few people make it, and most people will fail. And guess what I bought into that believed it, set it as my expectation and really thought that that was going to happen to me as well. And I even had to pull that apart and say, You know what, if that's what I expect to happen, then that is what is going to be happening in my life. So how does this apply to you?

Well, maybe there's an area in your life right now that comes top of mind that you're like, oh my gosh, Andrea, you are hitting the nail on the head when it comes to this because I am living in a place in my life. In a state where I'm worried about something I'm worried about how things are going to shift are going to change. What if this? What if that.

And I want to tell you right now that you don't have to stay there. One of my coaching clients that I was just talking to not that long ago, we talked about a relationship in business that he had recently lost, and in this relationship was a tremendous amount of income that was flowing into his life. Okay, when that relationship was lost of no fault of his own, he was worried that he would never be able to recoup that money, that that income was gone forever. And so he was worrying himself into like, now what what am I going to do what's, you know, oh, no, like the sky is falling, the sky is falling, right? And here's the thing we talked about, well, what if you started to shift that mindset and reframe it and start to see the possibility of what if this new relationship is actually going to propel you even further in your business give you more growth, more opportunity, and it's even better than the one you previously had. But all of this is really about getting super clear on what it is that you desire. And putting forth those expectations in your life, and believing that God universe desires to deliver on those things.

And sometimes it feels like oh my gosh, well, how do I go from one to the other? How do I switch from a place of worry? To a place of expectation? Well, first of all, you want to know, what is the limiting belief that is holding me back? What do I believe to be true about my life? And why am I in this state of worry? What is holding me back and keeping me in this place of continuously? Asking the what if question. And when you start to see, okay, well, maybe this is a pattern from childhood, maybe this is something I learned maybe this is something that was said to me, you can start to root out that belief. And you can replace that belief with something more empowering in your life. And if you're not sure how to do that, I'd love to help you with that, I can walk you through a process that will help you to not only discover what the belief is, but actually to shift it and change it. And we're actually gonna be doing that within elevate your mindset.

So when you are able to root out those limitations, when you're able to root out those limiting beliefs in your life, and start to see the possibility, that's when you're going to go from worry to expectation, and that's going to raise you up, that's going to elevate you to really start attracting what it is that you desire within your relationships, within your finances, within your business in all areas of your life. So I would love to have you join me for this a five week coaching program or starting mid May jump in this is the very first round that we're doing the investment is incredibly good. It's only $555. So easy for you to jump in and make these shifts right now in your life and in your business. So go ahead, click the link in the show notes. You'll you'll see all the information, feel free to connect with me. Ask me any questions that you might have. But don't miss out on this opportunity right now because I really truly believe that this could be the exact thing you need, really to shift you out of this place. And I would love to help you and guide you in this journey.

Friend, thanks for hanging out with me. I can't wait to see you be a part of Elevate your mindset. And until next time, remember, you have everything you need to live briefly.

Andrea Crisp 0:46
Hey, friend, welcome to The Couragecast. My name is Andrea Crisp, and I am your host. I'm also a mindset and confidence coach. And today we're gonna be talking about something super deep, we're talking about standing in your worth. And friend, this is something that I have struggled with myself, and I am on the other side of I'm very happy to say. But honestly, when you don't feel worthy of things in your life, you are constantly going to be standing in your own way.

It wasn't that long ago that I was part of a mastermind to fast foundations, which I absolutely loved. I was in two rounds of it. But during my second round, I was triggered a lot. There were so many high level coaches in there, that were making really good money. And they had these fancy Instagrams, and like, I would look at them and they were like, you know, super shiny driving these really nice cars. And oh my gosh, like if I could even describe I can't even describe to you like what it was that I saw. And every time I would get on these calls with these people, I'd be like, Oh my god, goodness, like I cannot compare to these people. And I'm never going to be as good as they are. And I was really downplaying my ability level, I was downplaying who I was what I had to offer the world, and really not thinking that I was worthy to be in the room to be quite honest with you. And if you found yourself in a position like that in your life, maybe you're in a networking group, or you're in some sort of coaching mastermind, and you find yourself in this position, comparing yourself to others, or judging what they're doing, because you're like, Well, I would never do that. And I would never post about that online. Or you find yourself consistently hesitating, when it comes to making decisions or putting yourself out there.

Or you're looking for approval, you're needing their attention in order to feel good about yourself. Or you are just thinking, You know what, I should probably post something that doesn't feel in complete alignment with the, because maybe then people will pay attention to me. If you're doing any of those things. Can I please just ask you right now to stop.

So many of us are not living out of our true worth, not only as coaches, but as humans. And I think before we do anything in the coaching space, it is so important that you know your worth. And you may say well, how do I know? Like, how do I know if I know my worth? Well, you be asking questions like this. Am I good enough?

Maybe you're comparing yourself against other people. You're like, am I as good as this person? Am I as good of a coach? Do I have a good system? Do I have a good program as a person? I don't feel like I'm enough. Or maybe you're growing and scaling but you're like, I don't deserve this or do I deserve this? Or maybe you're thinking to yourself, you know, I really love being in this program, but this other girl is triggering me all the time. And you're wondering, Is she better than me? Do all the clients want to go to her?

Or maybe you're finding yourself, like chasing other people wanting them to be your clients or in collaboration with you? Or you might be questioning all the time.

What did I do wrong? Did I do something wrong? If you're asking yourself any of those questions, then it is entirely likely that there is something that feels off in your life and you are not truly living into your worth

And when I talk to my clients about this, it is a really heavy subject. Because at the end of the day, we could have all the money in the world, all the clients in the world, all the success in the world. But if we don't feel worthy of that, if we don't feel like we actually truly deserve it, then it's not going to amount to anything.

And if I'm really honest with you, for a long time, in my own life, I felt as though I was not worthy. And I was trying to build a business, I was trying to do all sorts of things, based on my gifts and talents and abilities. Because I knew that I was really good at those things. But I didn't feel worthy of them, I didn't feel worthy to have success, or worthy to have love are worthy to have these amazing clients in my life. And so what I did was I just I try to source my worth, from external things, by peers, getting around people who I really respected and thought were really cool. And if I was in the same room with them, then maybe it would rub off on me and I would like learn how to be worthy. Well, you can't learn how to be worthy, you either feel worthy, or you don't feel worthy.

I spent a lot of money on getting more credentials, and you know, learning more things, getting more tools in my tool belt to help people. And gosh, I mean, I feel like I have so many tools, I sometimes don't even know what tools to use, because I have so many tools.

I joined masterminds, I joined coaching programs, I, I did all of these things to feel like I was worthy and to source my worth externally. And you know, it, even when I would hear people say stuff like, Oh, I love your hair, you know, like things like that your background and your Instagram posts, like, those things were like, Oh, I'm finally worthy. But at the end of the day, none of those things truly made me feel worthy. None of them.

I had an underlying belief that I was not worth being seen, being heard, being loved. And all of that stemmed back from things in my own childhood. Now, I know this is hard to hear sometimes, because oftentimes, it's like the thing we don't want to do, well, I don't really want to do the inner healing work, I just kind of want to make money, I just want to, you know, make an impact in the world, I don't really want to have to deal with my own transformation.

But honestly, friends, if you're going to really make an impact in the world, you have to deal with those things in your own life that are holding you back. And you might even be making a lot of money right now, and scaling your business, but you still do not feel worthy of that success.

And if you don't feel worthy of that success, or having those clients or living the life you're living, then it's time for you to actually do the work so that you can hold that space safely and in integrity for your clients. Because they deserve that. Because you want your clients to feel worthy of their success of what the transformation is that you're providing them.

And in order to really do that, you have to have the transformation. You have to do the work, the inner healing, the mindset work, the shifts that aren't sexy, don't feel glamorous, and to be quite honest, can be difficult at times.

And when I looked at my own life, I started to realize that a lot of this inner healing work that I needed to do was going to be the very catalyst that would propel me forward. And I have been working on my mindset for years, and I have been really leaning into my worth. I've done a lot of therapy, coaching, energy work. I mean, you name it, I've done it. And and to be honest, a lot of those modalities were super, super helpful. But at the end of the day, I had to champion myself. And I had to believe that I was worthy of everything that I desired in my life. And if you truly want to make an impact in the lives of your clients, to have success in your life and success in your business, then you are going to have to stand in your own worth as well. So maybe you're asking

So okay, well, like what do I need to do here? Like, what are the steps I need to take? Give me a list, let me do it. Okay. So I'm going to tell you a couple things that I think are going to help you. But you have to listen very carefully to how I'm going to instruct you to do this. Okay? So the first thing is get support, but get support from people who are doing the work, don't get support from people who are doing the same BS you're doing right now.

Okay, you have to get support, from like minded, honest, real people who are walking in integrity, have done the mindset work, or living out of their worth. Because if you find yourself around other people who are not, you are going to be staying in that low energy and low vibration. So it's really, really important that you get around people who do believe that they're worthy. And I found that to be so true for myself, if I was constantly having conversations with people who are in doubt and unbelief about their theirs themselves in their business. And this is not clients, but I'm talking about friends, or peers, then I felt like, oh, well, I don't feel worthy of that. So I needed to cut that out and cut those people out of that space in my life in order for me to truly be able to be around other people who are living in their worth. So you can join a mastermind of people who are really, truly investing in that in themselves. You can take a look online, you can join the mindset, mentor circle that I run. But most of all, I encourage you to do the inner healing work yourself. And it doesn't have to be long and involved doesn't have to take years of therapy. In fact, it can be one session that will truly transform your life and help you to step into your worth.

The whole reason you want to make an impact is because you know that you can help other people transform their lives. So you have to transform your own life. Okay? So just make it really simple.

Get the help that you need, the mindset shifts that you need, so that you can start making a bigger impact on other people, and truly be in integrity. Living out of your worth.

Friend, I love you. I know this has been kind of like a straight shooting episode today. But I really felt like it was so important to share this with you because I don't want you to walk down a path that you feel as though you're trying everything in the world, but you just really, really don't feel worthy. And if that's you and you're like, Okay, Andrea, I do I want to take that step I want to you know, move through some of these limitations that I'm feeling. Let's jump on a call. We can work through it in one session. And you may, that just may be what you need is one session. If there's other things that we can do, and we want to build something around that then we can but just give yourself that gift of doing the inner healing work. You can find the link in the show notes and book a session with me and you will be amazed at the transformation that happens in your life. Friend, I love you. Thanks for hanging out with me today. Until next time, remember you have everything you need to live briefly.

Andrea Crisp 1:06
Hey, friends, welcome to The Couragecast. My name is Andrea Crisp, I'm your host, I'm so glad you're here. I am a mindset and confidence coach. And I work primarily with coaches, entrepreneurs, and creatives, who are really wanting to make an impact in the world, but are finding it hard to move past their own limiting beliefs. You know, the whole reason I started coaching in the first place was because I had a huge desire to help others follow their dreams and passions. And back in 2011, when I first became a coach, my focus was primarily on helping women discover their purpose, I was so jazzed up about doing this. And I was so keen to help women discover their purpose that I created these coaching groups. And I had zero experience doing that. But as I started it, I just kind of went with the flow. And I built these groups and women just kept coming to them. And to my amazement, they were really successful. In fact, I am in touch with many of the women today some have built businesses others have, you know, started their dream life. I mean, so much came out of those first coaching groups when I was first coaching. And the synergy in the groups and the bonds that those women formed, really helped them take brave steps in their own life. But when I left my full time job in 2014, and stepped out into coaching full time, I was kind of in a space where I had no idea what I was doing. So I had been I school music teacher, and then I was a pastor and now I found myself as an entrepreneur. And even though I felt really confident about my coaching, I had no idea how to run a business. And so I started to research how I needed to do things. And I quickly found myself buying into and when I say buying I truly do mean buying into systems strategies, coaching programs, that promised to make me money fast. But before long, I actually found myself in a place where my mindset could not support what these coaches were asking me to do. Now I'm not saying what the coaches were asking me to do was wrong. But they really weren't in touch with where I was at as a brand new entrepreneur. And they weren't really vetting me properly. They were just wanting to sell me a program and make money. And they were doing a really good job at it. Their marketing skills were like, super high, and I thought I needed what they had to offer. And because I didn't have anyone around me to truly ask, and there was no one else that I knew that was in the online coaching space at the time. I was really just trying to figure it out as I went along. And so what ended up happening was, is I found myself in mounting debt, because these programs were actually not really working for me. And I if I look at like how many programs I've actually purchased, oh my gosh, you didn't you don't want to know. But I found myself feeling really, really anxious about what I had done. I'd quit my job and started this new business. It was things weren't working out. I felt like a complete failure as a coach, because I felt like I was trying everything and nothing was working. And I was in also a lot of emotional pain from the past that had really not been healed. And I've talked about this a lot in other podcasts

But I haven't talked about it in this particular way. And I was rehearsing these old stories from my past. And these limiting beliefs were coming up about who I thought I was, and who I truly believed myself to be.

So even though I felt like a really good coach, because I knew my skills are on point, and I even had the certifications to back me up, and years of experience in being a coach in as a high school music teacher, and as a pastor doing all that work, I found myself in a place where my business was in a complete standstill, and literally thought there was no way that I would be running a business in two to three years. And so I did what everyone else did, I bought another program.

I figured if I would master the art of email marketing, or doing webinars, maybe, you know, figuring out how to do a really cool reel or get another launch strategy that I would finally figure out what I was doing, because I thought something must be missing.

I also hired a Kajabi expert, a podcast intern, I even traded my services to have someone pitch me on podcasts, okay, so you know what had ended up happening from all that?

Nothing, I did not get the results that I was looking for. So friend, if you are finding yourself in that place, where you have bought absolutely everything, and you are not getting results, please stop buying more systems.

That is not what you need. Okay. And the reason why I know that is because until you get to the heart of what is holding you back, you're not going to be able to attract the customers and clients that you desire into your life and business. And when I started doing the work, the inner work for myself, when I started doing the mindset work, that is when I started to truly uncover those old beliefs, those limitations that I had been believing to be true about myself. And at the heart of it, I felt like I wasn't worthy. I was allowing fear to get in the way of even my own zone of genius. And I was playing really small. And you may be thinking, what does that mean playing really small? Well, I was allowing other coaches to, you know, take up all of the clients because they had some fancy marketing. And they promised to help them, you know, make 10k a month. And I just sat on the sidelines because I didn't feel like I could help someone else make $10,000 a month. And so who was I to promise anything.

But what I was missing in all of that was the fact that holding space for someone in a coaching session as a mindset and confidence coach, and allowing them to process through where they have been holding themselves back. And helping them to reframe that and get to the heart of why they have been doing that and really release it is completely transformational. And I was thinking that that really wasn't all that fancy or shiny, and who really wanted to do that work. And yet, I know at the heart of it, that is the only way people are going to get results. Because you can have all the amazing fancy systems in the world. You can have the best team in the world. But if your mindset is not where it should be, then you are never going to feel truly happy, fulfilled successful in your business. Okay, so

I want to call bullshit. Okay. There are a bazillion coaches out there peddling false hope, promising to help you make 10k in 90 days. Grow your list by 1000s get you on TV. And I call that bullshit marketing. And you know it when you see it because these people are sliding into your DMS and they are asking you to like join their next program and you

You don't even know them, you have not built a relationship with them, or they haven't built a relationship with you. And all of this is to make them money. And I can tell you this right off the bat, that if they're doing that kind of kind of sleazy marketing, they're probably not really able to help their clients. Okay? When I first started coaching, back in 2011, I got a certification and became a life purpose coach. And then a couple years later, I got another certification became a leadership coach. And, and then I from there went on to get life and success coaching certification. And from then on, I got certification to do EFT, hypnotherapy and NLP, and so on and so forth. And this is all after I have a Master's in Counseling, and over 20 years of experience in the helping industry, both as an educator, a pastor, doing so many hours of one to one, coaching, okay, so I know what I'm talking about, when I get in a session with somebody, and I'm able to chat with them and talk to them about what is going on in their life. I know what I'm doing. So when a coach comes in and says, Oh, you know, I got a coaching certification, I'm going to coach you, and I have zero experience in how to actually help you. But I'm going to help you build a business and get you to a 10k a month.

There is no way friend, there is no way. So I needed to tell you the truth about all of this, because I don't want you buying into the same nonsense that I found myself buying into. Here's the thing, you're doing amazing things in the coaching space. And the reason I know that is because you're listening to this podcast. And obviously you're resonate with me for some reason. And I would imagine that you have a lot of integrity in your business, and you know, that you can get your clients results.

You're a high achieving ambitious coach, and you know, the value of it, investing in yourself, and you know, the value of helping yourself move forward. And that's why you've hired the best coaches to help you grow and scale. But here's the thing, underneath all of that. What about those fears that are keeping you up at night? What about those things that make you feel anxious, that make you doubt yourself, or tell you that you're not good enough to be doing this or to be in this space?

If you are walking around trying to coach your clients, with your own scarcity mindset, and you feel discontent in your life and in your business? How do you think that's going to translate to them?

Do you think that they're actually going to get the results that they need, when you are feeling the way you're feeling?

So I just have to be real with you. There's not a program out there, no fancy schmancy system strategy that is going to help you to navigate this, to get through this. Because the truth is your business is built on you, your your business, if you're a coach, if you're in this field, then you are the business. So if you're not in the right headspace, then you're never going to really be able to help clients the way you truly desire. Okay, so, let's be honest, as a coach, it can be really, really hard to know where to get the support. Okay? You really have to be able to know who has integrity, and who does not. And mean you could ask me I can recommend amazing people to you. In all of these different fields, like I know amazing money coaches, I know amazing relationship coaches, sales coaches, story coaches. I mean, you name it, probably almost every person that is on my podcast that has been a coach is someone that I recommend, okay? Sothey're out there, it's not like they do not exist, but to just buy something because you think you need it is definitely not going to help you. Okay?

If you want to truly show up as the authority in your life and in your business, then you need a safe place for you to actually talk about those things in your life that are coming up those fears, those old beliefs, those limitations, so that you can root them out, and you can start moving forward.

Because let's be real here, I know that you're not going to go into a Facebook group and post about it and ask for help. Because what if your potential clients are there, like, you're just not going to do that, right? You need a community that is going to hold space for you.

And in order for you to grow in your business, and make an impact, you need that safe space, to talk about the challenges that you're facing in your business to talk about how you're feeling about what you're doing, or maybehow you're in lack or disbelief about things. And if you are, it's okay, because that is so normal, especially when you're up leveling in your life and in your business. And the more honest and real you are about working through your mindset blocks, and your own personal transformation, the more effective you are going to be at serving your own clients. Okay. So that is why I created the mindset mentor circle. Now before you think oh my gosh, now she's asking me to pay for this crazy program.

Nope. Friend, it is free. I knew that there was something missing in the coaching space. And that is a safe space for coaches, to truly have community with one another, to be able to work through those mindset shifts that they really need quickly and effectively. So they can get back to doing what they truly love. And so I have created the mindset, mentor circle, we're going to do it every Wednesday. And I love you to be a part of it. So I'm going to give you a link in the show notes. And all you have to do is click on that and join my email list. And you're going to hear of all the information about it. You'll see if this is something that you truly think fits you. And if you feel like you want to show up for one time, and see if it's something that is really helpful for you then please do and if you feel like it's not where you're at, then that's okay as well. The whole reason why I am creating the mindset mentor circle is really to have that safe community for coaches to truly get the help that they need, which is something that I did not get when I first started coaching, the best part of this, like I mentioned, it is free. So, friend, having said all of this, if you feel as though you're struggling and you have been struggling for a while, and you're just really not sure what to do, I want to invite you to join me for the mindset mentor circle, and to really experience humanity in a way that will uplevel you and help you on your way. You can find all the links to connect with me even if you want to ask me questions about it in the show notes today and I hope to see you there. Until next time, friend. Remember you have everything you need to live briefly.

Now, here's your host, mindset and competence coach, author, and your secret weapon.

Andrea Crisp 0:42
Hey there, welcome to the courage cast. My name is Andrea Crisp, and I am the host, I'm also a confidence and mindset coach. And I am so glad that you're joining me today we're talking about something that I have been really thinking about for months and months and months and months on end, I cannot wait to dive in to this topic with you all about letting go of what no longer serves you, we're going to talk about three different areas in your life that you can take a look at. And I'm going to walk you through just a little bit of a process that I go through when I'm taking a look at what serves me and what doesn't in my life. And I'll tell you what, the this year at the beginning of 2022, I chose the word expansion as my word of the year. And I was like, Oh, this is going to be amazing. Well, okay, so expansion, you know, means almost kind of like creating that space in your life for new things for opportunities. But it also means that when you are expanding, it means that you have to pull things out that are not serving you anymore. And that can be painful. And it's not always easy. And I'm not saying that it is when you are doing this process. But what I am saying to you that if you want to move forward in your life, if you want to move forward in your business, if you really want to take those huge steps to make an impact in the lives of others, you've got to be focusing on what is serving you, and letting go of those things that are no longer serving you. So very first thing is I'm going to talk about your environment. People talk about this all the time. And, you know, you might be thinking, you know, well, I'm stuck where I'm at, or this is kind of where I'm at in my life. We can do this in any way in our environment. So this might be looking like your actual place that you work or where you are sleeping at night, or your car. I mean, it can be anything that you feel is no longer serving the highest version of yourself. So the version of maybe who you were that you came into 2022 with was like, Yeah, this is working for me. But perhaps the version of you that is your elevated version. The future self is like, Yeah, this is not serving me anymore. I went through this not that long ago, probably about a month ago where I literally went through everything in my office in my closet, and I purged and I did something crazy. And I decided I was going to put things on Facebook marketplace and sell them. Oh my gosh, that was like the literal worst thing I could have done. And I'm not saying it's a bad idea if you want to do that, like, if if that's you like you do you. But for me, it just like, sucked all the energy out of like about three or four days where I had these items on Facebook marketplace. I think at the end, I made $20 and ended up donating the rest. It was probably online for I don't know, like I would say half a day when you totaled it up. Definitely not worth the $20. However, I did learn a valuable lesson that that energetic flow needs to be cleared. And so for me, I started to understand and realize that in order for me to clear that energetic space, I had to let go things in my life in my space that were no longer serving me. And I don't need necessarily to receive something from them. I just need to let it go. That was a big lesson. Not gonna lie.

Okay, another area of your life that you may be looking at all your relationships. So this can look like your friendships. It can look like your peer groups. It can look like intimate relationships depending on where you're at in your life friendships, you know what I think we put so much emphasis on our friendships. And really, they serve us in seasons, you can have a friend that you pick up every so often with, and it serves where you are at that time, but you don't necessarily need them in your life all the time. And I think understanding that and letting go of that need for that person to fill the void for you, is so important to know. And that actually might even save a friendship. Because you might be in a place in your life where you're like, I'm feeling like I need this. And so you're going outside of yourself, you're going external, to find the validation or the support, or whatever it is that you need that emotional connection. And that actually might be harming the relationship. So letting go of that need for that person to constantly be in your life. And serving that purpose for you might be a way that you can release, what is no longer serving you. It could also be peer groups, I just finish a mastermind that was nine, almost 10 months long, maybe a little bit longer. But anyways, it was phenomenal. And I was tempted to actually re enroll in the new cohort. But I had this sense that it was time for me to move on. And I didn't know to what, but I definitely felt as though my I had served my time there. And it's so interesting, because even within those community peer groups, there is an expiration date on where you're at and where you need to go. And it's so tempting to want to stay within those communities and like, just kind of get everything you can out of them.

But often for your own highest good, you have to start taking a look at okay, well what do I need now? What do I need in order to grow my business right now or my life in this particular season, and letting go of those people, that community, that collective that is no longer serving you, I didn't really recognize this in my life for a long time, like I really held on pretty tightly to a lot of my peer groups for a long time. And now I recognize, I don't have to like excommunicate them out of my life or anything. And I don't have to like, never talk to them or DM them or any of those things. But my expectation level around the the purpose that they serve in my life has definitely shifted. And I have let that go. So that I can make space for new people, new opportunities, new mentors, new things in my life. The third thing that you may want to look at is within your business, this could look like clients in your in your business. And for me, this actually just came up this week, I have been thinking about what I want to be shifting in my own business. And many of you know that I've been teaching voice and piano lessons for years since I was in college. And I've kind of kept it up. But one of my really phenomenal students, her mom sent me an email, and they are going to discontinue lessons. And I'll tell you what, it was a bit of a sting when I first read the email. And I started to realize, shortly thereafter, good conversation with a friend of mine actually helped point this out, but that

I needed to release and let go of this part of my life. And that this was the universe God's way of saying, Okay, it's time to move on. It's time to disconnect this and move on from this. And for me, it was wow, like just a simple little thing of letting go of a client made all of the difference. And recognizing Well, what does that look like for the rest of those clients? And what does it look like? If I do let go of them? What will it make space for? And I think that that can be scary because a lot of times we feel like, well, if I let go of that then I don't have anything coming in. I don't have any business, any income, any of those things coming in. But oftentimes it really, for your highest good. We need to be able to let go of what is no longer serving us so that we can create space for what is coming in. That can also look like programs that you're offering within your business. It can look like specific offerings. I know within my own business I've been shifting how I've been coaching, and I'm taking a look at how I offer my services. And what does that look like, in order to serve people in a an even better way in a more tangible way, I need to let go of some of the ways I was serving before in order to really help people dial in and shift their mindset in their lives and in their business.

So this can look so many different ways. But how you're maybe like, how do you do this? Andrea? How do we actually let go of those things? Well, I have a I have, I have something I want to share with you. Okay. So very first thing is you want to get clear on what you want. Mike drop, okay, like, That's it, we could just go home now. Get clear on what you want in your life? What do you want your environment to be? Like? What do you want your relationships to be? Like? What do you want your business to be like, even today, I was writing down a description of what I want my future clients to be like. And I felt so deeply connected to that person. So get clear around your purpose, who you're serving, who you are becoming as this highest version of yourself. Because what you need in this new version is not what you needed before. So it's like, well, you know, I know what I want it to look like. But do you know what you want it to feel like? Do you know what you want your environment to feel like? Do you know what you want your relationships to feel like the purpose you want them to serve, whether that's your peer group, whether that's your friend group, whether it's a mastermind, you're part of whether it is a mentor, or a coach that you're working with? Do you know what you want that to feel like in your life, get clear around that purpose. Same thing with your business in every way, be very, very, very clear about what it is that you want. The second thing is,

have confidence to say what you need to say, in order to truly release those people. Maybe you're saying it to yourself, and not to that person, I'm not asking you to like, completely blow up the bridge and walk away. A lot of this is about you and not them. And so it's being really, really clear and having that confidence that to say, You know what, this is what I need. And when I step into my power in this way, then I'm asking for something completely different. And that will shift so many things in your life is that belief and that confidence that you can have exactly what it is that you desire to have in your life. And then the last thing is really all about courage. And it's taking that aligned action on what feels right for you at the time. Now, I have a couple of examples of this specifically, I was asked to be a part of several different programs, in the past couple of months, from phenomenal coaches, I might add. And I was thinking about what is going to serve my highest good. And there was something within me that knew that I needed to take a step back, and that I actually needed to be looking inward. And there was a coach that I had been working with, and I decided to stay working with her. But these other specific programs, although completely would be major beneficial for my life in business. I knew instinctively that they were not for me. So my action was to say no. And that was like really painful. I have to admit that because there was part of me that wanted to be in those groups and surrounded by those people. But I also knew in order for me to continue to move forward, I had to remove myself from these things in order for me to take that next step. And that trusting that those relationships and those people are still going to be there when I need them. And that the universe always brings us what we need when we're willing to release what is no longer serving us. So whether it's your environment, your relationships, your business, there's three things that you can focus on. Number one is getting clear on what it is that you desire and on your purpose. Number two, have the confidence to really step into your power in a whole new way to embody who it is that you truly desire and want to be. And then number three is take that aligned action really, really living bravely by saying yes or no to what thing to the things in your life that you feel are for now. If you are in a place in your life where you're like, yes, Andrea, this is like totally hitting home for me and I need to like dial this in a bit. I'd love to have a chat with you. We can have a 30 minute strategy call just kind of feel, where are you at right now? What do you need? And can I be of service to you? And if so, then I'd love to work with you one on one. Or you may want to be in part of my new coaching groups that are coming up this spring. So having said all that, thank you so much for hanging out with me today. I'm so glad that you're there. Here's your one action step. Go into your space today. Take a look around take a look at one thing that is no longer serving you pick it up, take it out of the house and just see how you feel. You'll be amazed at how you feel when you let go of what no longer serves you, friend. Thanks for hanging out. Until next time, remember, you have everything you need to live briefly.

Okay, spoiler alert, did you know that you might actually be stopping the flow of abundance and success in your life because of the judgment you have about others. Today on the podcast, we're gonna be talking about what that looks like, how to unpack it, so that you can reframe those mindsets, and start allowing the flow of abundance into your life.

You're listening to The Couragecast a show to equip and empower you to live bravely. Now, here's your host, mindset and confidence coach, author, and your secret weapon.

Andrea Crisp 0:50
Hello, my friend. Welcome to The Couragecast. My name is Andrea Crisp, I'm your host. It is International Women's Day today. And I have got something that is on my heart that I really want to share with you today. And if you've looked at the title of this podcast today, it's your judgment of others is really about you. Now, when I was writing this, and I was preparing, there were so many thoughts going through my mind about what it is that I wanted to share with you. And it really just is a simple principle that I want to talk to you about today. But I want to start with this, how you view others, is really projection of how you feel about yourself. And that took me a long time to figure that out.

It took me a long time to understand that concept. And it's been something that I have been trying to extract from my own life to extract from my business. Because there were so many judgments that I was placing on other people that really were a projection of how I was viewing myself. And here's a question that I want to ask you today. And it's gonna really probably show you the temperature of where you're at in your life. But what is the immediate reaction to those around you?

When they are successful in their lives and their business? And their relationships? Like, what is your immediate reaction to them? Is it like, oh, I want to, like, text them right away and tell them congratulations. Do you find yourself wanting to send them a DM with like, you know, an emoji? Or is it like, really inside you have this like feeling almost of like jealousy and anger, bitterness, all of these things like welling up within you. And when you see somebody else succeeding, especially another woman, does it make you feel bad about yourself? Like does their success actually trigger something in you? To make you feel bad about yourself? Do you find yourself becoming jealous and angry that you don't have that? Well, one of the ways that we block our success and abundance, both of those things? Well, really, anything good when you think about it, is when we are in judgment of others with what they have their relationships, the money that they are bringing into their business, the friendships or community that they have in their life, all of those things. When we stand in judgment of other people, we're really actually standing in judgment of ourselves. I mean, that's gonna make you feel a little bit better, right? But how do we reverse that? How do we actually move away from that I'm going to talk about that in just a second. But when I was growing up, many of you know if you've been listening to the podcast for any, any length of time that I grew up in the church, and you know, as a little girl, I learned the 10 commandments and one of them that, you know, always stuck, always stood out to me was, Thou shalt not covet which loosely translated means that we shouldn't want what other people have, okay. And it was seen as a sin for me To want what other people had in their lives and I kind of translated that, you know, when you're a kid and you're growing up and you hurt, you hear different things and you're learning different things. Of course, your your subconscious is taking certain directives from that right. So my subconscious was taking that in as, you know, it's bad for me to want what other people have, and I shouldn't have that. And I, I kind of made almost like an agreement that those were things that I would never have. Because I saw those things and felt like oh, well, it's a sin for me To want what they have. So maybe it's bad for me to have that.

And I don't know how you interpret that, or even if you've ever even grown up with that as something in your own life. Butwhen I saw other people being successful, you know, as a kid, as a teenager, I internalize that as this was something that I was never going to have for myself. And I would be internally judgmental, and angry, that they had all of this abundance of success. And I didn't. It only surfaced actually, not that long ago, I only started really understanding this principle. Really, within the past few years, I kind of knew that it was not good, not healthy. But I didn't know what to do about it. Right. I didn't know how to shift it. But I remember myself, saying things like this, and I wasn't like necessarily saying it out loud all the time. Like, these were like, internal mindset that I would have dialogue that I have with myself, but I would say things like, they really don't deserve that. Like, I mean, come on. Can you imagine like, you know, somebody has this amazing success in their life. And I'm like, they really don't deserve that, like, what did they do to get that? Or I would find myself saying things like, Well, what's so special about them? That they get to have that and not me? Like, you know, they're not any better than I am. Or, I said this quite often when it came to being a singer, I'm way better. What do they have that I don't have. And let me tell you, those internal dialogues that I was having with myself, those mindsets, were actually keeping me from having the success and the flow of abundance in my life that I truly desired. Because I was projecting my own insecurity and doubt onto other people, other women specifically. And as I'm recording this episode today, and as I'm talking about this, like it actually feels a bit painful to talk about. And the reason why I think it's so important for me to share this is that when we really start to understand that what we think about others is actually a projection of what we feel about ourselves, then we can switch the mindset, we can shift that, because we can do the work the internal mindset work to root out, why is it that I feel this way? And how can I feel differently. And since our subconscious mind does not know the difference between what we say about ourselves or others, it actually just internalizes it as a command and a directive. It stores that command and directive as an actual truth. So if you're saying they don't really deserve that, it's really like saying, I don't really deserve that. And then you create this whole mindset and block around things that you feel like you don't deserve. So maybe if you're judging somebody on the success of their business and saying, Well, they don't really deserve that, then it's really saying, like, I don't really deserve that success in my business. And when I said things like, what is so special about them, that they get to have that, that really translated in my mind and into my subconscious as what is so special about me, that I, you know, would deserve to have something like that. I was equating that, really, there was nothing really special about me. And I was telling my subconscious that over and over and over again, there's really nothing special about you, Andrea? And that right there like I mean, maybe you're thinking about that and saying, You know what, Andrea? Like I totally resonate with that. That is something that I say about myself or say about others, is that what is so special about them, that they get to have that and I don't they get to have that success. They get to have that relationship they get to have those clients that income level, any of those things Write, it's really about you, and peeling back the layers of feeling. Why do you feel like you don't deserve it? And of course, here's the doozy, like the big one here, I'm way better. Why do they have that? And I don't.

And that projection, for me was really about my insecurity, of, you know, having this gift and talent and yet not being able to use it. And thinking that I was better than other people or needing to be better than other people, in order to get something. Oh, like, Can you even imagine that? Like, sometimes it's like, we think we have to win something or be competitive. In order to deserve to have something, when really, we don't have to do anything at all, to deserve what the universe wants to give us, we just have to, we just have to ask for it and and the universe delivers. Now, this isn't definitely not how I grew up thinking, This has been a huge mindset shift in my own life. And the reason why I'm bringing this up on International Women's Day, of all days is because I believe in order for us to truly elevate and lift each other up, we're going to have to take a good hard look at what we believe to be true about ourselves. How can we actually promote, elevate, amplify other women, when we're not even doing that for ourselves. And that means that we have to really take inventory on what that looks like in our own lives. And when you do this, when you start to do this inner work, you're gonna see a massive shift not only in what you believe to be true about yourself, because that is going to shift you're gonna start to see massive changes in your own mindset. But you're also going to be able to see the beauty and the amazing abilities of other people that surround you and truly congratulate their success. Because you will be so happy, you'll be able to see that because it won't matter if they're having success, because you know that their success is dependent upon how they believe about themselves. Judgment, in insecurity, repelled repels people. And we don't want to be doing that we don't want to be standing in judgment and staying in this place of insecurity in our own lives. Instead, root those things out. And I know for myself that I don't want to be stopping the flow of abundance in my own life, because I'm consumed with what other women, what other people are doing. So I wanted to share that with you today. Because I think it's important, in order to elevate others, we have to learn how to root out those things in our own lives, so that we can believe for all the possibilities in our own lives. If you want to change your self esteem, start seeing others as magnificent people. And that will reinforce your belief in yourself. Friend, if you are in a place in your life, where you're like, you know what, I resonate with this completely, this is something that I need to do. It can be just as simple as really shifting your mindset. If you do not know how to do that, if you're like, that seems like something I have no idea how to do, I would love to help you. Let's set up a call. We'll see if it's a good fit. And if it is, then we can book a session together and I will help you to shift that mindset for yourself. Because you're the really the one who's going to do it. So book a call with me. It's you can go to my website, Andrea crisp.ca forward slash strategy and book a 30 minute call with me and we'll we'll chat we'll see what's going on with you. And how you can start reframing those thoughts you have about yourself so that you can start seeing yourself as magnificent and others as well. Friend, thanks for hanging out with me. Happy International Women's Day. Sending you so much love. And until next time. Remember you have everything you need to live briefly.

EP 197 | Being Courageous

WITH ANDREA CRISP

What is the next step of courage that you need to take? Because there’s no magic sauce when it comes to being courageous. You just have to get out there and do the damn thing. And you may fail. You may be rejected. But you also may be amazing.

At the end of every podcast episode for nearly 200 episodes I have always ended with, "Until next time you have everything you need to live bravely." Today on the podcast I'm going to tell you the story behind why I chose that as my closing remarks for the last four years and 197 episodes.

In the last episode of the series Becoming Your Future Self, we are talking about how sometimes the most courageous thing you can do is to take the first step.

At the end of every podcast, for nearly 200 episodes, I've always ended with, "Until next time, you have everything you need to live bravely." Today on the podcast, I'm going to tell you the story behind why I chose that as my closing remarks for the last four years, and the last 197 episodes.

Andrea Crisp 0:24
Hey, friend, are you ready to take courageous steps to create a life and business you love. Welcome to The Couragecast. I'm Andrea Crisp, mindset coach, author, and a multi passionate entrepreneur. For years, I was afraid to allow myself to shine, that was until I discovered that I could step into my own power, shift my mindset, and take ownership of my own destiny. Now I coach women across the globe who are ready to own their life, and make a massive impact. Each week, I'll share conversations with amazing humans, who've been willing to face their fear, and pursue their purpose. I'll provide a blend of practical and spiritual advice to help you take brave steps in your own life and business.

Andrea Crisp 1:04
Hello, my friend, my name is Andrea. Welcome to The Couragecast. I'm your host, and I'm going to start this podcast with telling you that you already have everything you need to live bravely. I know that's how I end, every single podcast. But here's the thing. Taking brave steps, really does take a lot of courage. And it's risky. Like not gonna lie requires a little bit of know how, but a lot of blind faith that things are going to turn out in the end.

Andrea Crisp 1:34
And when I first started the podcast over four years ago, I almost didn't start, and it actually took me an entire year to muster up the courage to record my first episode. I still remember being at my computer, trying to come up with a catchy title for the show, the name of the podcast, and wondering what I could ever possibly talk about over and over and over again, that I wouldn't get bored of. And I knew it was courage. And I thought that's exactly what women need to hear, is how can we take those brave steps in our lives. And when I really leaned into that, and knew that, you know what, yeah, that's that's the thing. Like, at the end of the day, it's taking the steps, right, it's actually doing the thing. And I knew if I needed to hear it, they're probably others did as well.

Andrea Crisp 2:24
So I started exploring names for the podcast. I enlisted some of my good friends who were also part of a Mastermind that I was in, some of the smartest women I know, actually. And one of them came up with the name for the podcast. And the moment I heard it, it's stuck. The Couragecast, empowering women to live bravely. But I have to tell you, in the past four years, I haven't always been brave, haven't always felt brave. In fact, there have been so many times when I hid for fear of failure, rejection, not wanting to be left out, left behind, times where I didn't want to share my truth because I was too afraid that I would be abandoned, that maybe I'd be left hanging. And in all of that time, I kept coming back to the phrase that I close the show with every single week. And that is you have everything you need to live bravely.

Andrea Crisp 3:22
So when I talk about things on the podcast, when I share who I am, when I share my story, that's what I'm really leaning into, is that part of me that knows beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I already have everything I need to look bravely. It is going to hurt sometimes, and it's going to be painful. And I remember talking, not that long ago, probably about a year ago, about my spiritual deconstruction. And at that time, I leaned into the courage and needed to be both honest and forthright about why I was making a huge pivot from being a faith-based, life purpose coach to becoming a confidence and mindset coach. And in doing so I started exploring all sorts of different ways of living, and kind of was a big huge shift away from the faith-based principles. That was really scary. And I had to lean into who I was unbecoming, and who I was becoming in the process.

Andrea Crisp 4:29
And I found myself, during this past four years, at a point in my life financially, where I just was having a lot of trouble making my business work. And during that time, I relied again on that phrase, "You have everything you need to live bravely, Andrea", and it gave me the courage to keep going, and also the courage to tell my story. To be honest and forthright. The things don't always turn out the way we thought we they would, and that you just can keep moving forward.

Andrea Crisp 5:02
But honestly, when I was telling those stories, there was a fear there that people might stop listening, I would not be taken seriously anymore. And then, of course, there was that time that I shared on the podcast about heartbreak that I had experienced. And that spiraled me back into anxiety and depression. And I knew that I had to access that bravery once again, to face the truth about why it had happened, how I had played a part of it, and why it was attracting what I didn't want. Courage for me, meant coming to the end of myself, telling my truth, unbecoming who I had been for over 40 years, being honest with my story, with my life, and with who I am, both personally, and who you know, here on the podcast, And was it scary? Yeah, yeah, it definitely was. Every week, I wanted to run and hide. But I kept going. And over the past four years, there have been so many other stories of women that I have shared here on the podcast, running the race, overcoming limitations, barriers, becoming amazing entrepreneurs, coaches, athletes. I think back at the stories that they have told me, and how many times I have borrowed their courage, when I didn't have any of my own to access. Because here's the thing about courage, it multiplies, it expands. Whenever you use it, there is always more of it left in the reserves. And if you feel like you've come to the end of what you have, you can always borrow someone else's until it starts flowing in your life again.

Andrea Crisp 7:03
Now, this year, 2022. I believe that I'm going to be more courageous than I've ever been. That scares the shit out of me and just even say it. But what about you? How are you going to live more bravely in your own life? Is your business you're going to start? Are you going to finally take that step? Believe in yourself enough to actually do it? You gonna launch a podcast, put your own story and stamp out into the world? Are you going to write everything that you have been wanting to share with the world into a book, self publish or publish it? Or share a song that you've written or a painting you've painted with the world? What is the next step of courage that you need to take? Because there's no magic sauce when it comes to being courageous. You just have to get out there and do the damn thing. And you may fail. You may be rejected. But you also may be amazing. And you might just launch into the stratosphere. That be pretty cool, right? Being courageous is going to overflow into every single area of your life. And this week, I've asked my friend, Niki Ferguson, money mindset coach, to chat with us about how we can be courageous when it comes to money.

Niki Ferguson 8:32
Hi, it's Niki, money and mindset coach, back with your last Money Minute. Today, let's talk about being courageous with our money. If you want to start being courageous with your money, you want to surrender and release some control. Managing your finances isn't about keeping a tight grip and not letting anything go. You don't want to stockpile your money, swim around in it like Scrooge McDuck. Sometimes we have to let the money out to play and trust that it will come back to us tenfold. Of course, still be mindful and conscious of what you're spending on, but allow yourself to experience abundance and invest in yourself. This may mean taking a scary leap to hire a coach, or join a mastermind because you know in your heart of hearts, it's going to improve your life. This could also be buying boots you've been eyeing because you've already embodied the woman who wears them. You are ready to step into those physical shoes. Whether it's investing in yourself and your business, or treating yourself, it's okay to let go of the tight grip on money. And when you're not spending like this all the time, it makes it feel even more special and magical when it does happen, and you can really enjoy it.

Andrea Crisp 9:51
Thanks Niki for joining us again. I've loved having Niki on the past four episodes sharing she has amazing podcast called Wildly Worthy, and you should check that out. And she's also such a superb money mindset coach.

Andrea Crisp 10:10
So friends, the next step you need to take may be one that requires a significant investment into your life, which is why we needed to talk about money, right? And that can be scary, but the payoff can be even more significant than what you've put in. And I know, and you know that this is your year. I keep saying that. I'm gonna keep on saying that. But I honestly truly believe it. It's your year to be expansive, to be magnetic, to be confident, and to be courageous. So what is your next step? How are you going to invest more fully into your own life, that is going to require you to take some action, writing an email, inviting someone to a conversation, starting the research process for something that you've always wanted to do. One step will lead to the next, which will lead to the next, which will lead to the next. And every step you take, you're going to pull from the courage you've had from the step before.

Andrea Crisp 11:23
As we move closer to the 200th episode, I love to hear how this podcast has empowered you to live bravely. I'd love maybe share a video with me, or you know, a message on in DMs. Whatever it is, that has really resonated with you ,I would absolutely love to hear. And also, we are doing a giveaway for the 200th episode, which is going to be coming up very, very shortly. So if you screenshot the fact that you have shared the episode with your social media platform, by tagging me and screenshotting it and sending it to me, or by subscribing, rating, and reviewing, screenshot that as well and you can send it, you're going to be entered into a giveaway for the 200th episode and so I cannot wait to share that with you. Friend, I'm sending you so much love for this journey. I've loved doing this series with you talking about being expansive, magnetic, confident, and courageous. And we're going to be starting a brand new series next week. So until next time, remember you have everything you need to love bravely.

Hello, my friend, my name is Andrea, I'm your host. And I love that you've joined me today. We are the third week into January, and I bet you're already slaying 2022. Like I'm just believing it right now. But I know that usually in the third week of January, it is the hardest weeks. So they say and you know, although I always wonder who they is anyways, but we've decided this year, we're making the rules, right? So like, we don't have to like play by that rule anymore, and decide that everything's gonna be hard. We can decide right now, it's gonna be easy. And I've got some pretty exciting news, because next month, we're going to be celebrating our 200th episode of the podcast. And as we are preparing to reach that crazy milestone, I can't even believe that we're going to be at the 200th episode. I love your help, as we get a little bit closer to celebrating this monumental milestone. And if you've been a longtime listener, would you consider sharing one of your favorite episodes, maybe even this one, maybe this one's going to be your new favorite. And when you share it on social, tag me, so that I can repost it, and also screenshot it and send it to me through email or DM, I'll have both of those links located in the show notes. And then you're gonna be entered into a giveaway for the 200th episode. And who doesn't love prizes? Because I mean, I love a good prize, right? So another way that you can enter is by subscribing, rating, reviewing the podcast and screenshot that as well. And then send it directly to me. Again, those links will be in the show notes.

Andrea Crisp 2:32
Now, this month, we've been going deep into a series that I believe really will shift your life, and your vibration, as you start showing up being expansive, being magnetic, and being confident. This week, we're going to talk about a word that gets thrown around a lot, and can be very misunderstood. And I believe that's confidence. So let me ask you, how confident are you feeling right now? You know, often we look on the outside to feel confident, put on a pair of jeans and wonder how we look in those jeans. And you know, is my hair a certain way, and how my appearing on social media, and you know, that's what we feel like how we feel confident, but we're not limited to that. You can have confidence, and yet not be activating it in your life or your business, because you're not authentically showing up as yourself. And people can tell when you are showing up as yourself, and you are confident about who you are. But what if you could be so completely confident to be yourself, share your voice, your message with the world. That would be something right? I would call that really being able to accelerate your confidence. Now, I'm always attracted to people like that, you know, I see them. They walk into a room. It's like, oh my gosh, they totally know who they are. They're easy to spot because I give a rat's patootie about what anybody else thinks, and what anyone else is doing or how they're doing it. And then there's everybody else, who's like, so caught up in approval being judged, comparing themselves to one another. And quite frankly, that's kind of exhausting.

Andrea Crisp 4:13
So, back in December, I decided I needed a little social media hiatus. And as an online coach and communicator, that's kind of a scary thing. Because thinking about being offline for any length of time is always, "Oh my gosh, like what's gonna happen?" But I knew that it was more important that I took the time to hear my own voice and stop listening to the voices around me. So I made the decision to step away from all my social media platforms. Have you ever done anything like that? Yeah, like so it's both amazing and scary at the same time. But here's the thing, in order to know what it is you want to say, sometimes you have to get quiet enough to hear your own voice to go within and to get real about the transformation that has happened in your life, and step into your power and share that message.

Andrea Crisp 5:08
Because here's the thing, you've got a story to share, you've got a message to share with the world. But what might be holding you back is the fact that you don't feel like you can share it authentically, yourself. So being confident is not about how you look or how you walk into a room. In fact, you can walk into a room with like, what appears to be confidence, when it's really just arrogance. Being confident is standing in the truth of who you are, no matter what, no matter if you feel or don't feel the support of your family, no matter how certain you are of being received when you share your truth. No matter how popular or unpopular you become. At the end of the day, you're probably not going to have the full support of the people you truly care about your life. Maybe even the people that are closest to you. And you might not be that well liked or even that popular. I know I'm really painting picture well, am I not? Okay, but if you use your voice, if you share your story, your message that can change someone else's life because you're authentically showing up as that version of yourself. And that's really all that matters. And we're going to take a quick break and you're going to hear from my friend and money mindset coach, Niki Ferguson, all about being confident when it comes to your finances.

Niki Ferguson 6:35
Hello, it's Niki, your money and mindset coach back with another Money Minute. Today we're going to talk about money confidence, having confidence with our money can give us so much peace. How do we get there? When you think about being confident, what does that bring to mind for you? A quote I once heard said that "Confidence lies in keeping your promises to yourself." So you say you're going to do something, and you follow through to actually do it. With your money that can look like setting a financial goal, and taking the steps required to reach it. So let's say you want to max out your retirement, you would need to know what that number is, break it down to how much you can contribute each month to reach your max contribution level. On the other hand, maybe your financial goal is to get your debt below a certain amount, or to pay it off. If you want to feel confident that you're doing it, you can make an intentional plan with payment amounts set. Now, this doesn't mean that you lose all flexibility in your life, it actually gives you a feeling of freedom and peace, that you are taking inspired action on what you desire. What financial goal would make you feel competent with your money?

Andrea Crisp 7:47
Thanks, Niki for sharing with us. I'm going to put all of Niki's information, social and all that in the show notes so that you can make sure to connect with her. A competence is something that you can activate in every area of your life, your finances, your relationships, your business, and that confidence and ownership, and personal power will propel you to where you want to go in every area. Doesn't really matter which one. So imagine that this is the year that you finally take that step, to be the most confident version of yourself. Here are a couple of questions that you can ask yourself: Who will you impact? How will you impact them? Like what are your gifts and abilities that are just unique to you? And how will you feel when you're making a difference in the lives of others? Here's the thing, friend, confidence is something that has a ripple effect. Because when you're confident about who you are, that gives other people permission to be confident about who they are. And stepping more fully into who you are will help your clients it will help who you serve, your customers. And it's going to give you more of what you need to be successful in your life.

Andrea Crisp 9:19
And I just want to share a quick story with you before we wrap today. Not that long ago, I was talking to a good friend of mine and we were talking about standing up for really owning your worth and confidence when it comes to your income. And so often women hesitate to speak their truth to show up as the most authentic version of themselves. Because they feel like it's tied to dollar amount. And that dollar amount feels like it's their worth. And when I was talking to my friend, and I was you know saying to her, you know, you can start to own who you are and show up as who you are. And she's like, "Yeah, but what if they don't want me? And what if they're not willing to pay me?" Well, here's the thing, friend, your confidence cannot be based on how much you paid. When you decide who you are, and how you're going to start showing up, then you are starting to attract and invite what it is you truly desire, opportunities that will actually increase your income. Nobody is in charge of that, but you. But it means you have to step more fully into your power and be confident in that area of your life.

Andrea Crisp 10:42
Okay, so next week, as we wrap up this series of the podcast by talking about being courageous, we're going to talk about taking those big risks, stepping out, doing all the hard things. But you don't have to wait to live courageously I mean, I want you to go out there and do today, do what you need to do. But if you're still unsure of how that is going to work for you specifically, or how you can activate the confidence in your life to be more fully in your power. I love to chat with you, we can book a 30 minute free call. And we'll talk about how you can start activating that confidence. And the link is going to be in the show notes. And if you head over to andreacrisp.ca/schedule, you can book your time. Now don't forget about the giveaway that's happening next month. Make sure that you share an episode, rate, review, and subscribe to the podcast and screenshot and send it to me. And you're gonna be entered into the giveaway that will be happening on the day of the 200th episode. Friend, I am sending you so so so much love for your journey. Until next time, remember, you have everything you need to live bravely.

EP 195 | Being Magnetic

WITH ANDREA CRISP

There is something that you know, that you attract into your world. Maybe it’s people, maybe it’s experiences, maybe it is opportunities, maybe it’s clients, something that’s really easy for you, like, you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, ‘I attract that into my life.’

About This Episode:

Imagine for a moment that you could attract EXACTLY what you want into your life and business. Wouldn't that be absolutely amazing. Here's the thing -- you are attracting right now what you believe is possible. And if that's not what you really want then it's time to shift those beliefs to attract what it is you desire.

In the second episode of the series Becoming Your Future Self, we are focusing on what it looks like to attract what we desire into our lives and business by being magnetic.

Andrea Crisp 1:04
Hello, my friend, my name is Andrea, I'm your host. I'm so glad you're here. Do you know that when I first started the podcast, I was so afraid that no one would listen to the show. It actually plagued me for months, I lived in this irrational fear that it was going to be so terrible that the only person who would listen would be my mom. Here's the funny thing. My mom doesn't even listen. My dad has pretty much been the person in my family who has listened probably the most consistently, not sure if he's listening to this episode or not. But if he is, Hey, Dad!

Andrea Crisp 1:43
So at the time that I started The Couragecast, I really did not fully understand how magnetic we are when it comes to calling in what we believe to be true for our lives like that was not even on my radar. Now, of course that has changed for me over the course of the past year. And I have become much and I have become much more attuned to the fact that I'm always drawing to me, what I'm focused on and believe to be true. And the really cool thing is that even though I've had this fear in the past, about no one listening to the podcast, I've stayed the course. And next month, we're going to be celebrating our 200th episode, which I am so excited for. I am believing that this month, we're going to attract more listeners to the show in one month than we have in the past year. And in order to do that, I'm going to need your help.

Yep, that's right. Whenever I started the show, I really focused on bringing stories of women who had overcome their fear to do extraordinary things. And I really did showcase some pretty amazing guests. If I do say so myself, you can go back and listen to many of them. But as time went on, I knew that I was growing and shifting. And so were the women who listened to the podcast. And now I believe I'm attracting multi passionate female entrepreneurs, coaches, creatives, who are themselves taking brave steps in their lives every single day, to make a bigger impact in the world. And I want this podcast, The Couragecast to celebrate you, and every single challenge you've overcome.

Andrea Crisp 3:28
So during the week of our 200th show, I'm going to be doing a huge giveaway with some of my favorite things. And for every person that shares about the podcast on social media, and tags me, screenshots, and sends it to me, they're going to be entered into a massive giveaway. And so if you do that, you can email or DM me the screenshot, the links will be in the show notes, you can just check them out there. And another way to get into the giveaway is also to subscribe, rate, review the podcast. And you can take screenshots of those and send them as well. There'll be an entry as well. And if you feel like maybe that's too much for you, please would you just share it with a friend. You don't have to screenshot me. But I would love if you did share an episode with someone else. And with your help, by doing this by getting the word out and really getting The Couragecast kind of back in front of people, I believe that we're going to reach our 200th episode with over 100,000 downloads. So I'm gonna thank you in advance for helping me get there, helping us get there. And I really, really appreciate you.

Andrea Crisp 4:42
Now last week on the show, I was talking about how we can be expansive in our lives. And I want to circle back with that topic specifically and ask you, How have you been feeling as you've been starting to open up to the possibility of holding more in your life? What are you believing for in 2022? What parts of your life and business are now expanding? Like, you know, it's happening, it's now in process in your life? Are you making room for more clients, new collaborations, new ideas, new projects, maybe something that feels really big and scary. Even as I was doing some recording of the podcast and editing just a few minutes ago, I was starting to have like new ideas come to me about possibilities for things to happen on the podcast, and guests and all those things that I mean, as we make room, we do expand, and opening yourself up is the first step to believing in the possibility believing that the universe has your back.

Andrea Crisp 5:47
So today, we're going to take that one step further. And we're going to talk about what it looks like to become completely magnetic to what you desire. That's like totally attracting new clients, collaborations, relationships, ideas, all the things. And a friend of mine reminded me not long ago that I had told her that I attract really amazing women into my life, mentors, coaches, peers, friends. And that is 100% true. When I was about nine years old, I had a babysitter, her name was Rosanna. And she came into my life, and helped me go from this shy little girl, to believing that I was able to do anything, that anything was possible for my life. And when she babysat me one particular summer, she taught me how to cook, bake, sew, we made these dresses with polka dots on them. And we would do Olympics in the backyard, and she would take us on the bus to the beach, we just had like the most amazing time, she also did the hard things like set the timer on the piano for me to practice every single day for 30 minutes, which I hated. But she saw the best in me and made room for me to grow. And that was the first time in my life where I really saw what it was like for me to expand, but also realized that I was drawing in amazing people.

Andrea Crisp 7:18
Now, here's the crazy thing, she was only 14 at the time. She didn't even drive. But Rosanna was my very first mentor. And she didn't even know probably what mentorship was. But she was instilling in me this desire to make my mark on the world, to show up as the most authentic version of myself. And the reason why is because she was the most authentic version of herself. But Rosanna was not the only mentor I had. She was one of many, I was also mentored by my pastor who was Shirley Lira. And when I was probably even younger than nine years old, she saw my singing ability. And she nurtured it. She mentored me, and helped me to realize that I could sing in front of crowds, and put me on the stage, and allowed me to really show up as myself. I was also mentored by Sunday school teachers, by my youth pastor, who I absolutely adored. By my high school music teacher, who honestly, I'm not even sure she even liked me. But she totally believed in me, because she put me up for like some award in the city. But anyways, I digress. But year after year, city after city, place after place, I continued to attract incredible mentors into my life. And never once did I doubt that I could be in relationship with these incredible women. And it still amazes me to this day.

Andrea Crisp 8:49
So let me ask you, what are you attracting into your life? Like right now, think about that. There is something that you know, that you attract into your world, maybe it's people, maybe it's experiences, maybe it is opportunities, maybe it's clients, something that's really easy for you, like, you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, I attract that into my life. Maybe it's completely different than what I've been talking to you about. But nonetheless, you are a magnet for that specific thing. And there are things in life that we believe to be true, and we attract those things. But on the flip side, there are also things we attract that we don't want, okay, because we're magnetic, we get more of what we believe to be true.

Andrea Crisp 9:40
And the universal law of magnetic attraction states that we attract into our lives, people, things, circumstances that correspond with our dominant patterns of emotional thinking. The first is the Law of Attraction, which states that our thoughts are like magnets attract into our lives, corresponding circumstances. Incredible, right? So when I started to understand that I was attracting both good and bad things into my life, I had to get really serious about shifting my mindset to believe for what I did want. So here's the thing. As much as I was attracting incredible mentors into my life, I was also attracting some things I really didn't want. One of the things was terrible jobs, I had a propensity to attract, like the worst employers, I got fired from almost every job, now I have to take responsibility for that, because that was something else I believe to be true. And that kept me feeling really insecure about who I was, and quite frankly, very unsafe, because I always worried about where I was going to be in life. Was I going to be able to pay the bills? Was I going to be able to take care of myself? And if you've listened to the podcast for any length of time, you know that I've talked about how I have really lost almost every job that I've ever had. And I continuously attracted jobs that kept me small, hidden away, until the moment I stood up for myself, then that's when I usually lost the job.

Andrea Crisp 11:19
Okay. So romantic relationships were kind of along the same lines. In high school, I dated a guy who cheated on me, married the girl. And later, I subconsciously bought into the belief that that was going to happen to me over and over again. And guess what, it did, three more times to be exact. So as you can imagine, my fear about being employed, having a terrible job, being let go, being an unsafe relationships, being loved, or not being loved, continued to keep me believing that I somehow deserved this type of treatment, and I continued to attract it into my life.

Andrea Crisp 12:03
So the Law of Attraction does not operate based on what we deserve. It operates on what we believe, okay? So I didn't deserve any of that. But I believed it. So think about that for a moment. If you're attracting right now, what you believe, what might you be attracting, because you don't deserve bad things to happen. But when you focus your attention there, and you're allowing yourself to ruminate on those thoughts and those ideas, sorry to say, but you're going to get more of the same. So whatever those negative thoughts that you're having, in your life, you're going to keep attracting them. And right now your subconscious is playing at a scenario that is trying to keep you safe. And unless it's triggered, you won't know that you need to adjust that mindset, and that belief about yourself and your life. But the moment that trigger is pushed, everything in you will go into fight, flight, or freeze.

Andrea Crisp 13:05
So you may know exactly what I'm talking about, because you could probably imagine, right now, visualize, a moment in your life where something happened. And you thought to yourself, how the EFF did this happen again? Right? Yeah, okay. It's a Law of Attraction, you get more of what you believe to be true. So now you deserve. Okay, I can't stress that enough. We attract what we believe not what we deserve. So my friend, it is so important that you're moving through the beginning of this year, and setting into motion, what it is you truly desire. And your beliefs need to match up with those desires. Now we're going to take just a quick break here. And when I come back, I'm going to share with you a few journal prompts to help you to get started when it comes to attracting what you desire into your life. But before that, I want to share with you my good friend, Niki Ferguson, who is a money mindset coach, she's going to share how we can be magnetic when it comes to our finances.

Niki Ferguson 14:11
Hi, I'm Niki money and mindset coach back for another Money Minute. So today I want to talk to you about being a money magnet. Are you inadvertently repelling money? Wah wah! I know? Of course you're gonna say you're not. But I want you to think about what stories and beliefs come up when you think about money. When somebody says the word money or you see money or whatever it comes up. What do you think? Are there any negative thoughts that come to mind that surround money because there are a lot of things in our society that people will say that get implanted in our brain. So like, is money bad? Is it are you greedy or selfish if you have a lot of money, or maybe it's on the other end and you don't feel worthy or deserving or feel a little bit out of place when it comes to having money. Do you think that something bad would happen if you had money? So first, we've got to start there and take away that negative connotation. Money just is, it's not good or evil, we get to decide what we do with our money. And we get to decide who and what to support with our cash. So, make a list of your dream budget. If you had x amount of dollars, what would you do with it? So let's say you had a 10k month, what are you going to do with it, write it down an itemized list, okay. 1000 would go to this, 500 would go to this, 250 would go to this, right? Write it out so you can get excited about where your money's going, and then you'll be able to call more in.

Andrea Crisp 15:48
Thank you so much, Niki, I appreciate you hanging out with us tonight. All right, friend. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes and place your hand on your heart, and allow yourself to completely drop into your body. Take a breath all the way down to your hips, allowing your belly to expand. And as you release, let go of any tension that you may be feeling. Take another breath all the way down to your hips, allowing source energy to completely fill you up. And as you exhale, release anything that feels heavy or burdensome. And one more breath in and this time allow yourself to rest in the knowledge that you are inviting all that you desire into your life and releasing what you no longer need. And as your breath returns to a normal rhythm, I invite you to visualize yourself attracting what it is that you desire into your life. Allow that to come into full view. Take a moment to hear what you would hear and see what you would see and to feel what you would feel. If that vision feels in alignment with what you believe is meant for you, then I invite you to make it even clearer. See it from a different perspective. Turn up the brightness and allow your senses to be more fully involved. What you are envisioning for your life, for your relationships, for your business is here, right now. And as you are focusing on what you desire, anchor that feeling deep within you. That feeling you feel is the emotion, the state that you can access whenever you feel yourself drifting or doubting. You can access the feeling of what you desire at any moment by coming back to this feeling. Take one more deep breath all the way down to your hips and slowly exhale. And when you're ready, I invite you to open your eyes.

Andrea Crisp 18:38
How do you feel? In the next few moments as we are wrapping up the podcast episode, I'm gonna ask you a few questions. You might just even stay in that mode of meditation. These questions are designed to help you go even deeper, so feel free to pause and take that moment to write down your thoughts. Or if you want listen all the way through to the end and then come back when you have a moment. First question is what are you becoming a magnet for in your life? How will you feel when that is present in your life? Describe what you see, you hear, you taste, touch, and sense. What is the future telling you right now about becoming magnetic to what you desire? Describe how you feel as this vision is unfolding before you and what action will you focus on right now to allow this to start to manifest in your life?

Andrea Crisp 20:05
