Your mindset is your greatest asset! But it is also what may be holding you back from taking that next step in your life. Are you ready to reframe your mindset so that you can step more confidently into your purpose?

The road to your future success is not paved with glitter and gold. I hate to break it to you. It's really all about releasing control, and allowing yourself to truly be seen and known for who you are. In today's episode of The Couragecast, I'm going to talk to you about what has been happening in my personal life when it comes to surrender, and how that looks, and why I feel it is probably one of the most important things that you will have to do in order to move to the next level.

Are you ready to take courageous steps to create a life and business you love? Welcome to the Couragecast. I'm Andrea Crisp, mindset coach, author and a multi passionate entrepreneur. For years, I was afraid to allow myself to shine. That was until I discovered that I could step into my own power, shift my mindset and take ownership of my destiny. Now I coach women across the globe who are ready to own their life and make a massive impact. With a blend of practical and spiritual advice. My hope is that the courage cast empowers you to take brave steps in your own life and business.

Hey there, welcome to the Couragecast. My name is Andrea, I am really glad that you're here today. You know, it is a Friday when I am sitting down to record this podcast episode. And honestly, it has been the most, I don't know. productive, crazy. Couple of days, I have had so many things happen in my life in the past couple of days and just felt like this flow. And normally on Fridays, I end my day and I shut down. But I have felt like there's just something that needs to come out of me. So I decided that I'm going to take the evening and I am going to allow what needs to come out to come out. And so as I was preparing for this podcast episode, I kept asking my higher self, what am I suppose to share. And I have this sense that there is something much bigger at play here. And when that happens, I need to move over and allow myself to be a channel for what God is sharing. So here is the crazy thing. You may have heard my story if you've listened to the podcast for any length of time. But when I first started the courage cast, I was still in full time ministry. So that meant I was a pastor. I was you know, working in music in the church, I was speaking I was really involved in the Christian faith. And I guess around I don't know, 2017 2018 I guess, things started to really shift in my life. And I started to evolve. And as I evolved, so did my faith, there actually came a point where I questioned absolutely everything I had ever known or ever been taught. So I called it my faith, deconstruction. Now you can listen to different podcast episodes about that process in my life. But over the past few months, something has been awakening in me. And it's this deeper connection or a reconnection to spirit. And it's, it's kind of hard to really put it into words because I'm still really trying to understand it myself. But it's as if the old part of me, the old Andrea, the old thoughts, ways of being old paradigms are fading from my purview. Like imagine like, I'm in a car, I'm driving, and I can see in the rearview mirror, my old life, just disappearing. And in this new light. Strangely, what I see is something that is familiar, something that I've always known. And it's the part of me that is so deeply connected to the divine. Now I say divine. In my context, I call that God. Maybe for you that looks different. Maybe you call it universe or source. Maybe you prefer a different way of referring to through your higher self, or what you refer to as the collective consciousness.

But for me, I call it the divine or God. And I feel this awakening my soul and a longing to be more connected to God, not in a religious way. And really not in like a super woowoo way either. Although I have to say, I've been allowing myself to experience a lot of different things that I would have never experienced before. And you'll probably hear about that more on some upcoming podcast episodes. Like for real, some crazy shit like, but very, very cool nonetheless. So here's the thing, I have spent the majority of my life trying to please those around me. And now if you'd asked me, if I was doing that, I would have said, Absolutely not like I'm not doing that. But what I really get honest, and I peel back the layers, I was always looking for validation, and acceptance from the people I really cared about people that were closest to me. Now, of course, this stems from a childhood wound, as it usually does. And my inner child, my little Andrea was looking for validation, and really looking for a sense of acceptance and belonging. And although I have an amazing family, like I really, really truly do, my parents are wonderful, I have a great brother, I've always felt loved and cared for. I never really felt as though I was completely seen or known for who I am.

Now, maybe you can relate to that maybe there is a part of you, that is in your family of origin or surrounded by people and you're like, you know what, I just really don't feel seen. Now, I attribute this to the fact that I was really not showing up as most authentic version of myself, I was hiding. And for years, I was trying to be what my family, my friends, my peers, expected of me or expected me to be. And in doing so I really dimmed the brightest parts of me. I kept them hidden. And I had this fear that if people really knew me, they would not accept me. And this fear kept me from truly showing up for myself, showing up for my life and showing up in my business. And some of the closest people to me, still only get the version of me that I allow them to see, like, Isn't that crazy. And I feel like I can say this, because there's no one sitting in front of me, except for my dog. She is sitting in front of me, and she gets to see the good, bad and the ugly. But it's really harder to express when you're really trying to be transparent or vulnerable. And you think to yourself, I really don't want everyone to know this. But I feel like I need to share this. Now. Because I was doing this because I was allowing my fear to hold me back. I was really afraid that my Christian friends, which I had many of and I still have many of they would think that I had like literally gone off the deep end, like, oh my gosh, she is into all of the whoo and the new age.

And, you know, basically she's going to hell. And I really had this fear that I would be judged for really taking a step into something that I had never stepped into before. And for allowing myself to experience things that I had never experienced. And yet on the other hand, I had this fear that the people I was meeting that were more spiritual, and maybe in this other lane would think that I am too religious, and that I am maybe to square I don't know, I can't I really didn't know the word but anyways. And then of course, there's my family. And I've always been afraid that my family just doesn't understand me, they don't understand what I do. And I've spent the greater part of the past few years dumbing down and hiding the truth of who I really am to those around me. To make it easier form out more palatable for them. And I have to say, all of this is fucking exhausting. Like, let's just be real, I am tired. I am tired of trying to navigate how others may perceive me because really, it's none of my business. So not that long ago, I came to this realization that in order for me to truly step into my divine purpose, that I need to allow myself to be seen and heard for who I am, even if I am still trying to figure that out myself, right. So, here I am, I'm like,

Okay, I'm in this place where I know I need to take this step forward, I really don't know what that looks like, oh, my gosh, I feel completely out of control. But at the end of the day, I had this sense, like, if I really want to have a successful business, if I really want to be in my purpose, then I have to allow myself to take this next step. And you may have heard this before. But because it's been said, like by many, many people, the entrepreneurial journey is probably the quickest path to self development and self actualization or self realization. If you want to have a business, then get ready for your life to be upended, including your relationships, your finances, and everything you ever thought to be true about yourself, your relationships, your really your connection to God source, the universe, all the things right. And quite frankly, I don't know that we talk about it enough, I don't think that this part of the journey is really shared all that much, because who really wants to let in everyone that knows them into like, kinda like the dark corner, right. But as coaches, entrepreneurs, or people in the creative space, you know, it's easy for us to talk about strategy are get excited about the wins or showcase the transformation after it's happened.

But we're doing a disservice to people when we don't talk about what happens in the middle, in the midst of the evolution or the transformation. Because we're not letting people in on the moments of the frustration, the fear, maybe some of the unbelief that you're having, letting go of self release, releasing the old ways of being. And I know for myself, like talking about those things has been really difficult, especially when it comes to the pain or loss of relationships, and the uncertainty of this journey. And the fear is, and this is, from my perspective, is that it's going to make us look weak. But the truth of it is, is that our lives are meant to be a reflection of the evolution that we're having every area of our life and business. And that can be messy, and complicated. Now, I'm not gonna lie, my own transformation, my own evolution, nicely transformation, like it's already happened. But let's say evolution, it has been really hard at times.

Starting with the loss of who I thought I was, right? This is the person who I had presented myself as who I had become over the years, because I had carefully constructed her over many, many years. And honestly, a thought of people seeing the real me scared the shit out of me, because if they did, they would see all the things I didn't want them to see, they would see the fear that I had around. Like just things in my life, the uncertainty of my future, the anxiety that I feel on a day to day basis, or rejection. And one of my greatest fears, which I really don't talk about that often was really just being alone, isolated. And yet, in my isolation, I was the one keeping myself alone and in the dark, and hidden. Which is like quite the dichotomy if you really, really think about it, right? I was afraid of being alone, and yet I'm keeping myself alone. So maybe you're wondering, okay, Andrea, why are you sharing this? Like, what? What is the point of sharing all of this with us? Okay, so my dear friend, I want you to know that it's okay to be you. That it's okay to be fully seen, that it's okay to be fully known. And that you don't have to put on airs or show up a certain way. In order to be approved of or validated. You can come man See an undone and unbecoming.

Because that's entirely what is going to be necessary for you to step into that next season of your life and business. If you come in picture perfect, needing to have all your eyes dotted and your T's crossed, and really, like, just feeling so amazing, and, you know, I'm so sure of myself, I would really, I would really second guess whether or not you're going to move to the next season of your life. I mean, it's one thing to have certainty. And it's another to just really think that you have it all together. And the moment we think we have it all together, and we have it all figured out, is a moment thing start to come on done. In the moment, we're called into the next level of surrender. And the reason why I want to share this with you is because behind the scenes, when you see someone moving into that next level for themselves, that next season of life, there is something going on behind the scenes that you don't see that you are not privy to. And you might be wondering, why are they moving into that? What is happening there? In the end? Really, the answer is, you don't know.

We don't know what's happening behind the scenes, when it comes to watching people's lives, and success. Unfold. And the truth is that people are not going to know what goes on behind the scenes in your life, either. And even with me recording this podcast episode, and sharing that this is happening, you really don't have that understanding of really what's happening in my life, right? Like, I can talk about it, I can share about it, I can tell you, but you don't really know. And so in those moments, when we get caught up in wanting to compare ourselves, or judge someone for where we think they're at, our perception of where we think they're at, or how they got there, or what's going on, or how much money they're making or any of those things. First of all, a it's none of our business. But B it's really actually keeping us from moving forward ourselves. It's really only when we allow ourselves to release control, that we can step into that moment of surrender.

Surrender to the possibility that you really don't know everything. I mean, come on now, right? Surrender to the idea that you don't have to figure out everything in advance. That one is a hard one for me. Because let me tell ya, I want to know, I want to know what's coming. I want to be prepared. I want to have a spreadsheet. I want to have some sort of structure or routine. I want to know all the things. Surrender to just being seen as you are, even when you're evolving. Even when you're a hot mess. Even when things don't look pretty surrender to just being seen and known. Surrender to being misunderstood by the people you love and who love you and know that's okay. They don't have to get it. They don't have to know. They don't have to understand and surrender to the fear and the insecurities that you have in your life right now. At this present time, so that you can move through them. Because it's okay, when the fear comes up.

And it's okay when the insecurities are there. They are just a way for you to see what you need to work through in your life. What is coming up for you. And in order for you to really step into that next season that next level you're going Need to have to release control and surrender. I really almost hesitated to say this, but I've just felt it like so much to say it. But like die to self, and allow God to do in and through you what you could not ever possibly do for yourself knowing that you are held and supported by the universe, that what is happening is for you. And I know that sometimes it's so hard. And this is the part of the transformation that takes place in our lives that we really don't want to talk about. Because this is the place where we're coming undone. This is the place where we fear people won't want to be around us or to know us or to work with us. Because what if they possibly knew all of these things about me, they could never trust me or so we think. But the more you lean into this work, the more you are honest and real and upfront with yourself. More so than anyone else is how you are going to have that transformation in your life by truly releasing control, and surrendering to what could be for your life. Now, friend, next week, I want to continue this conversation. I guess it's conversation but monologue. I don't know.

Continue what I'm talking about by sharing what it's like when you step into your divine purpose. Knowing that you have been called to something greater than what you could do on your own. So make sure that you catch next week's episode, because it's going to be a good one. And if this has resonated with you today, I want you to let me know. And please share it with someone. Tag me. Let me know what your takeaways are. One of the best ways for me to really receive from you in the energy exchange when it comes to what I'm putting out here on the podcast is for you to reciprocate by other communicating back to me sharing the episode and just letting me know that you got it. And then I know Okay, yeah.

All right, keep going on this path. And friend, trust that you are being led, you're being guided, that God universe source is working everything out for your benefit. And I'm going to be hosting a brand new series called the purposeful CEO and is coming up. The information is in the show notes so you can access it there. We're gonna be talking about how to reconnect your purpose, your divine purpose, with your CEO energy. really leaning into having that mindset, that abundance is your birthright. Now, this is a series that I truly believe, no matter what stage of business you're at, it is going to be beneficial for you, whether you're starting out, or whether you're uber successful. Your mindset is your greatest asset! But it is also what may be holding you back from taking that next step in your life. Are you ready to reframe your mindset so that you can step more confidently into your purpose?

Achieving the success that you want and desire in your life and business is going to require that you have a new level of awareness and expanded level of consciousness in order to hold space for what is coming in for you to truly show up as the person who can hold space for that. Today on the podcast, I want to talk to you about my own journey and how I have personally started to awaken to my own expanded level of consciousness.

I'm Andrea, I am so glad that you are joining me today. You know, I have been thinking a lot about the topic that I'm going to talk about today. And it's really all about expanding our level of awareness, or expanding our level of consciousness, which is a word that only, and the past few years that I've really began to understand. And if you have ever, you know, done any mindset work, you have probably really worked in the subconscious and really integrating that into the conscious mind. And so we're going to talk about what does it look like when you expand your level of consciousness. But before we do that, I want to start by telling you a quick story. In high school, I really struggled with math. In fact, I was so bad at math that I needed a friend to tutor me. And it actually took me taking grade 10 math three times to even pass the class.

Now, some of you may have heard this story. So I'm not going to go way into depth on it. But literally after the third time of taking the class, I barely passed, the only reason I did was because I had switched from taking math and French two times to an English class the third time, and I'm pretty sure that my teacher took pity on me and passed me just to get me out of the class and to graduate me because I was literally a year from graduating from high school. And the entire class that I was in at the time was filled with 10th graders, so pretty sure that the teacher took pity on me. But for years, I held this belief that I was not good at math, and for obvious reasons. But here's the thing, that really wasn't true. I just did not have the awareness, I needed to be good at math. And my dad had also failed his math classes in high school as well. And so I already had this, you know, idea that I wasn't that great. Anyways. So when it came to college, I had to take math courses to, you know, take some regular core classes. And as soon as I found out that I needed to take these math classes, I was like, Oh my gosh, this is the worst. Now I'm going to take math classes again, and likely fail them because I assumed that I was going to struggle again, with math.

But the most amazing thing happened. I passed both of those math classes. Yeah, I mean, even I'm surprised. And quite easily, in fact, and it wasn't, you know, I'm not really sure if it was the environment that I was in, if it was the professor of my math class really doesn't matter. The point is, is that I was open to learning. And when I was open to learning and when I was open to this new way of being in college, suddenly everything I needed was there. The answers were there. The capacity to understand the concepts were there. Everything had expanded to allow me to take in the Use new learnings. Now, how many times have you found yourself in a position where you are basically writing yourself off before you even start something before you even begin? On a project, you take a leap in your business, because you are afraid that you will not have capacity for that, maybe you feel like you're not gonna be able to learn it, maybe you feel like you're too old to start something new, maybe you just feel like, there's just no way that you're gonna be able to figure it out, especially when it comes to tech.

And let's be real here, since I live around seniors with my parents who are both in their 70s. And I spend quite a considerable amount of time with my aunts and uncles who are in their late 60s and early 70s. I see that quite a bit where it's almost as though when there's something new to be learned, they want absolutely nothing to do with it. And even more so than just learning something new, especially when it comes to tech. It's really all about like, how the world is changing, and how there's new concepts and new ways of being in the world. And, you know, I can see, you know, especially from my parents vantage point, how difficult it is to, you know, integrate new concepts and new things that they're learning because the capacity that they have been operating at is at one level. But what is required for us to get to the next level is a new level of awareness, it is expanding our level of consciousness.

And here's the thing, we all may struggle with this to some degree. Because on the other side of that is like the fear of the unknown, maybe there's some uncertainty around what could possibly happen or not happen. And that can be scary that can, you know, feel like you know, a little bit intimidating to think about, well, I don't really know what might happen. When I take this next step, I don't know, you know, what's on the other side of, you know, growth in my business, I don't know what's on the other side of when I become successful in my business. So I don't want to get to that point. But in order for us to truly get to that next level in our lives, both personally and professionally, we have to expand our level of consciousness. And that means and includes the fact that we have to learn new things, we have to be open to growth, we have to be open to really allowing ourselves to experience something very new. And this only came to my awareness, when I started down the journey to heal myself, body, soul, and spirit. And I've talked at length about my own personal story that I had struggled with anxiety and depression. And when I decided that it was time to really deal with it, and to actually start moving myself into that healing journey, that is when I had to expand my own level of awareness, because there were many, many things that I tried along the way. And that I did that prior to really making that leap, I would have been like, there is absolutely no way I'm doing that. I am not going to believe in that. I'm not going to, you know, participate in that. And because my level of awareness was very, very small and very limited. And that came out of living out of a very small paradigm.

And a lot of that was self imposed. It came right directly from my own perceived religious beliefs. And I'm saying that in that context, because not every religious belief, you know, has this context. But for me, specifically, it did. And I found myself being one of those types of people who really liked to do the right thing. I wanted to get everything perfectly, I wanted to always kind of be validated in what I did. And I felt as though if I could meet the expectation of God, by doing the right thing, then I was going to find favor with God. And so anything that felt like a departure from my faith was definitely not something that I was going to even consider. So when it came to things like manifestation or you know, really looking in the subconscious, I was, like, just really scared about I was scared of it.

I was like, you know, I don't know what this means. I don't know what this is. I have no idea. You know what is going to happen if I kind of dive into this? This is Black Magic like these things. And just even recently, I had my first experience with Akashic records. And if you don't know anything about that you might want to take, you might want to look that up. But it was really going into past life. And for a long time, I had this belief around the fact that I've only had one life, and I never would have had multiple lives and been reincarnated or all those things. So really expanding my own level of consciousness has been a journey.

And if you're listening to this right now, and you're like, oh, my gosh, what the heck is she talking about? How in the world could I possibly venture down this? I just wanted to take a deep breath. It's okay. It's all right. I'm not going into that any further. But I remember, specifically, my mom saying to me, when I was this is years ago, when I was really, really strong in my faith journey, my Christian faith journey, my mom would say to me, be careful, Andrea, your halo just may come around and strangle you. So I have to laugh. Because, you know, there was I was like, the quote that they would use is like, you're so heavenly minded, you're no earthly good. And that was basically me, which also meant that my level of consciousness was not expanded. So needless to say, things have definitely shifted in my life. And I'm really, really trying to expose myself to new things, and I'm learning new things and realizing that I just don't know everything.

And there's no way for me to possibly be, you know, on top of all of this stuff, like I have to learn as I go, and I have to expand myself. And so I encourage you, when you are trying to get to the next level in your own life, that you are also going to have to expand your level of awareness and your level of consciousness. So I have four thoughts for different areas that I believe will help to do this. Okay? Because I don't want to just leave you with this thought and be like, Okay, well, how do I even do that? How would I possibly expand my level of consciousness, to go to the next level in my life and in my business, so the first one is awaken. And what awaken is, is really asking yourself, what do you truly desire, and really getting clear about what it is that you want in your life, because in order for you to really awaken to new possibilities, you have to be clear about what it is that you desire. Because when you become I guess awakened to the possibilities, that is when the possibilities will be presented to you. And you have, at that point, the option of whether or not you're ready to shift into that new paradigm into those new thoughts, to create a new reality.

Or you can stay in the reality you are in now. My friend recently sent me this meme, I guess it was like a recording of Fox News. And it was talking about all of these different correspondents saying different things about being woke. And I laughed so hard, because I was thinking to myself, how, you know, they were trying to persuade people to not be woke. And when you think about that, I'm like, really? Do you not want people to have a expanded level of awareness of life and things around them? And the possibilities and apparently not. And so like that example, right, there is you know, sometimes society wants to keep us in this tunnel vision. In this one version of the way we should be living this one version of the way we can do things this one way, so that it does not challenge anybody else to have to change or to be different in any way because that's scary.

So, when you are really expanding your level of consciousness, the first step is awakening to it. Awakening to the desire, awakening to the possibility and allowing your Self to call in those different possibilities that will turn into a new reality. The second one is live mindfully. And when I say live mindfully, what I really mean is, is so important for us to be in the here and now. And to really be in the present moment, because oftentimes, we can be stuck in the past, we can be stuck in the limiting beliefs, we can be stuck in the old loops and the old narratives. And that could cause us to not take action, or to be in fear or to, you know, really just think that there's no way that we could possibly ever have what we desire. Or you might be conversely, on the other side, in the future, so afraid of what you don't know or the unknown, that you're like, there's no way I fear the unknown, or the uncertainty or the change, and I don't want anything to do with it. So in order for you to expand your level of consciousness or awareness, you have to live mindfully, be in the present, become aware of those subconscious beliefs that are running the show, that are keeping you where you are now, so that you can shift them, and you can start living consciously in a new way that will allow you to move forward within your life.

The third one is intentions. And this is really all about knowing exactly what you want to see manifest within your life, and then changing your emotional setpoint that you can call it in. Because oftentimes, when we have an intention for what we desire, we may be operating out of an old emotional setpoint, where we could not possibly call him what we want, because we are in a completely different mindset. And we might be even operating out of that old mindset and operating out of those old emotions, and maybe they're stuck emotions. And so in order for you to truly move forward, you have to set your intentions on what you desire, and then change your emotional setpoint. And really get clear on what it is that you want to call in. So that you can move into that new way of being. Because in order for you to manifest into your life, into your business, what you desire, you have to have a different emotional setpoint different vibe, if you know that makes it easier for you to understand different level of frequency different vibration level.

So you know, lots of people say hi vibe, basically, you have to be that, okay. And the fourth one is action. So the conscious can change. But you have to give the subconscious direct commands, in order for you to be able to shift your paradigm. So if your subconscious, which is running the show, is, you know, working on these old beliefs and these old patterns, you have to first of all, give it a new command, you have to shift those beliefs, and then integrate it into your conscious decision making, which is really where you're taking action in your life. So when you are trying to consciously change things, without doing the subconscious work, you're going to constantly be bumping up against those old stories and those old paradigms because they have not been shifted and changed. And you're trying to do these new things with an old default setting.

So you really want to shift the subconscious. And then allow yourself to consciously make these new decisions and take aligned actions in order to get the results that you want. When it comes to expanding your level of consciousness, and awareness, in order for you to really achieve your results and the things that you desire in your life, you have to expand, you have to allow your whole being to expand to hold space for what is new and what is coming. Because the reason you don't have it is because you haven't expanded to receive it yet. And in order for you to receive you have to make those shifts and those changes To hold space.

Now, you may have seen that people, you know, celebrities, sometimes famous people influencers, they might get a lot of fame, or notoriety or influence or money, celebrity status really, really quickly, and then they will fizzle out, or they won't be able to hold capacity for it, maybe they'll have some sort of a breakdown or something will happen. And generally speaking, why that would happen is because they don't have the level of awareness and the level of consciousness to hold what came for them. So even though they had the desire for it, and it came, they couldn't hold it. And so they immediately revert back to their old ways of being, which do not support the new desires that they had for their lives. So in order for you to really have the success you want, you have to shift your level of consciousness, your level of awareness around what is possible for you, so that you can hold space for what is coming, and be able to operate out of that new way of being so waken to the possibilities.

Be in the present, be mindful, have clear intentions around what you desire, and really set that emotional setpoint to be able to receive it, and then take aligned action out of the new beliefs that you have for yourself and for your life. Okay, friend, I hope that is super helpful. I want to know, how are you going to take action to really expand your level of awareness? I would love to know. I want you to go over to Instagram. Find me at Andrea Crisp Coach, and let me know what action steps you're gonna take today, this week, to really expand your level of consciousness.

Are you in the energy of what you desire? Or are you going back and forth between being committed to what you want, and really not sure that you expect it all that much? Today on the podcast, I'm going to talk to you about staying committed, and being in the energy of your desired outcome.

Now I coach women across the globe who are ready to own their life and make a massive impact with a blend of practical and spiritual advice. My hope is that the Couragecast empowers you to take brave steps in your own life and business.

Hello, friends, welcome to the Couragecast. I am so glad that you are joining me today. You know, I have to say that today, it was one of those days where I decided that I wanted to jump on to my GarageBand where I record my podcasts and just talk to you about an experience that I just had. That was so phenomenal, that I knew I needed to talk about it right away. So with no notes, with no real forethought into how this podcast episode is truly going to go, I decided that I wanted to share it with you.

Now you know that I have been talking over the past few months about a program that I man called unblock your business. And this is a program that my friend and coach Vanessa. Now it was just I was gonna say her name or last name, Vanessa Bowen, and it literally escaped me as I went to go see it. Vanessa Bowen, who goes by at MIT, where the she has been running both a program called unblock abundance, and now she runs unblock your business. And so I am in this program. And it is absolutely phenomenal. It is changing the way I think about my business about how I'm approaching my business, how I am showing up in my business, and being in the energy of what I desire. And so I wanted to share that with you today.

Because one of the challenges that she had for us was to spend money. For many of you, you might think to yourself, oh my gosh, like that's like the easiest challenge ever. You want me to actually spend money on myself and in my business. But here's the caveat, she wanted us and encouraged us to spend money on something in our business that made us feel like a boss, like a CEO. And so for myself, I was thinking like, I'm not really sure what that is, or several things that maybe I would want. My first inclination was to think about getting a new desk. And it's something that I wanted for a while. And it was a very practical investment that I would have been making. And I was thinking yeah, that that's good, let's be practical, let's do something practical. And as I thought about it more, and as I was listening to some of the things that the women in our group were spending their money on, I was like, just that's not it. Something is not sitting with me. And I don't feel like buying a desk is going to be like total CEO vibes for myself.

And so I sat back and I was still thinking about what it is that I really wanted to spend money on. And then it came to me a new haircut. Actually not a new haircut, but actually a new hair color. And I was like really, like that's the thing, getting my hair colored like how am I going to be in my CEO energy and my CEO vibes by getting a new hair color. And so I kind of sat on that for a bit and I did not take the action. And we got to the call where everyone was talking about what they had spent their money on. And I had to admittedly tell the entire group that I had not done it. And here's the thing I was, you know, in my head about whether or not that was what I was supposed to spend my money on. I was really wanting to be a bit more practical in how I was going to spend the money and really, you know, just yeah, if I'm going to make, you know, a good big purchase, then I really want to know that I'm spending it on something that makes a difference.

And, you know, I've gone for so long now without worrying really about my hair, and whether or not it's growing in gray or not. And all of these things like had like a whole list a whole litany of things, and reasons and excuses why it really didn't matter whether or not I had spent this money. And if I'm really honest with you, there were a lot of things going through my mind when it came to what I was going to encounter, when I told my family members, how much money I had spent on my hair. Okay. I don't know, if you resonate with that. Or if you've ever experienced something that, you know, you're supposed to take that next level, that next step in your business, and making an investment, really putting yourself out there.

And your first thought is, what is somebody gonna think? What is my parents gonna think? What is my partner going to think? What is my spouse going to think, and then not taking action, because of the fear that they're not going to approve. And here's where I found myself, and why I had really not taken action on this decision. So, you know, with the whole group cheering me on, even though I had not done what I had supposed what I had committed to do, I decided that week that I was going to find a salon that I could go to, and I was going to have this up leveled version, new CEO vibe, I don't know, basically, I was going to get my hair done at a salon, and I was going to feel good about it.

And so I found a salon I called they put me in on Monday morning, which was this morning. And I was headed in today for that appointment. And I had a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like I was I knew exactly what I wanted. And I knew I was probably going to end up having to spend a good penny on this. So when I got to the salon, and I showed up at the salon, I really honestly told myself that I I really want to be in the energy of what I desire. And I really want to experience this to its fullness and have an expectation and a belief for something more to manifest in my life because I'm taking this action.

Now I know that seems a bit silly when you think about like what could possibly happen. But here's the thing friend, like, I came home, and I banged out like I don't know, 10 videos, alive two lives, actually. And some Instagram stories all within the first hour of being home from the salon, which is absolutely crazy. So here's the thing. So I got to the salon today, I was treated like a queen, I felt so good at and did my hair, he did a fantastic job. And I walked out of there feeling like a boss feeling like a million dollars.

And I feel like as I came home today, I am showing up in a whole new energy. I am showing up for myself in a whole new way. And what I didn't realize was is by you know, just staying in this old version of myself that you know, was kind of like little bit lackluster. I was showing up in that energy I was showing up in that lack luster energy. And I can already feel and I'm experiencing a whole new difference when it comes to being in this CEO energy just by getting my hair done.

So I want to encourage you that maybe you are in a place in your life right now. And you're like I don't know if I should make a decision to uplevel in some way. I'm not sure that I should spend the money on coaching. Maybe you have Thinking for some time now you're like, you know what I would love to, you know, get a VIP day and experience for myself and really start shifting that belief in my life. But I don't know if I can really afford it. Or if, if I really think that it's going to make a huge difference for myself, I have to tell you, friend, when you commit to what you truly desire, in showing up for yourself, and put the money forward for it and make the investment, you cannot go wrong.

It is not necessarily just about what the outcome is, it is about being in the energy of what you desire, it's about really embodying a whole new version, a whole new identity of yourself within your business of yourself within your relationships of yourself within every context of creativity, of you know, opportunity in your life in absolutely every way. It is not just about putting down some money for something that you feel is going to uplevel you it is about showing up in that energy. And the moment you make the exchange, the moment you decide that you want to be in that energy, and that you're going to invest in yourself in that way, things 100% shift, which is why Vanessa was right. She told me she's like, Andrea, you're going to experience something, just by going and getting getting your hair done. And I was like, really like just that. But that actually is a reinforcement of the belief that I had this past summer.

And you may have heard me talk about on the podcast before, when I had my own VIP day with Vanessa. And we talked about my business. And we talked about that uplevel and that upgrade for myself. And I started showing up in a whole new way in my business, I started being just even more passionate about what I really wanted to do. And then came my own VIP days, which I was so excited about offering other people.

So friend, I want to encourage you that when you are moving to that next level, when you are taking that step of growth and expansion in your life, it is going to cost you commitment, it is going to cost you an investment, and is going to really cause you to step into a whole new level for yourself, for your business, and for every area of your life. And if you've been considering if you've been sitting on the fence thinking you know what I don't know whether or not this is really going to make a difference in my life by really seeing what is holding me back. When it comes to my mindset.

Friend, I encourage you just to jump on a call with me. And let's talk about where you're at, and what might be holding you back right now. And then you can make the decision whether or not it's right for you right now, to jump into a VIP experience. And to take that next step and really start showing up in a whole new way. Now I'm really excited to tell you how things manifest in my life after this. Like honestly, like I said, I did not script this out there are no notes whether or not I just add something to this later, or I just post this podcast the way it is. You never know. But I did want to record it while I was in this energy because I really felt like it would translate to you that you would really feel it you would experience it and you would know that no matter what you feel like you are being called to invest in for yourself right now. When you do that, things are going to shift you're gonna see a change, and you're going to embody a whole new version of yourself.

Alright, friend, love you. Thanks for hanging out with me today. Until next time, remember you have everything you need to live briefly. My hope is that the courage cast empowers you to take brave steps in your own life and business.

Well, hello, friend, welcome to the Couragecast, I am so glad that you are joining me today. You know, I can't believe that we're already into 2023. And I've just been thinking about the fact that we're a week in, and all the things that come with a new year, feeling like you're starting fresh starting over you have this redo, and it can feel like a lot of pressure. And you may be wanting to succeed, and you might be wanting to accomplish things in your life. Maybe you have goals for this quarter or for this year. And it maybe even feels a little bit daunting.

Today on the episode, I'm going to talk to you about giving yourself permission to succeed. And what does that really even look like. But before we get into that, I want to invite you to join me every Wednesday, for the mindset mentor circle. Now this is a group of incredible humans who meet on Wednesdays. And it's really a supportive community to share what we're going through maybe some of the struggles, some of the wins that we're having, and really encouraging one another. Now I have found really doing this journey like being online all the time, how important it really is to have that network and that community that can support you, especially when things feel really hard, which is often. I mean, let's be real here. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. So this is a free community. And I want you just to join us. It's Wednesdays at 12pm. Eastern Standard Time. And there will be a zoom link for you sent to you through email, just go to the link in the show notes. And you can register to come. And I hope that I will see you there.

So today's episode was actually inspired by a conversation that I had with one of my VIP clients just this past week. So it's something that has been on my heart and on my mind, and I knew that I wanted to share it with you here. So just a little bit of a backstory. Some of you may know this, but I spent a good part of my career in full time ministry. And I grew up in the church. And so when I was going to college, I decided that I wanted to go to a Christian university, and I got a music degree and I was a high school music teacher. And I spent a lot of time teaching in the Christian education sector. And then when I left teaching, I went into full time music ministry, pastoral ministry, both in the US and in Canada. And so I have spent several decades in the church growing up with the Christian faith and Christian doctrine.

And when I decided to leave ministry full time in 2014, I was still involved in a church and I actually had an experience that really, really shifted my beliefs. And it really changed me now it was a combination of things up until that point that really had been informing who I was becoming through the process. But when I when I was part of this particular church, I had a lot of like thought Thoughts come up about, you know, is all of this really real. And I started questioning everything. I call it my faith, deconstruction. And now looking back on it, it kind of feels a little bit more like an awakening. But as with anything in life, sometimes we can swing from one side to the other. So for many, many years, I was really, really caught up in the Christian faith and doctrine. And I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. But when I left the church, I completely swung the other direction.

And so kind of now I feel like I'm, you know, allowing myself to come back into some sort of middle ground. I don't really know what that looks like, I can't really describe it. But it is definitely a journey. And so it's something that I have really been thinking about my own spiritual journey and connection to the divine. But having said that, because I was raised in the church, and because I was listening to a lot of people that were leaders over me, in the church culture, I really started to develop these beliefs that I needed to do everything for the glory of God, everything that I was going to do in my life, needed to bring Jesus the fame, if you're familiar with Christian circles, you've probably heard that statement before. But more aptly, what I really wanted was I wanted to be in the will of God, I wanted to be in the center of what God's plan for me was. And for many, many years, I felt as though it was one thing and if I deviated from that plan, then things were not going to work out for me.

And I might as well just, you know, say, throw up my hands and be like, well, you know, I fell off Plan A, so I guess I have to do Plan B. And so when I saw people in the church, have things happen in their lives that you know, looked a little bit messy, I was like, oh, man, they definitely fell off of the plan A and now are looking at Plan B and Plan C, and I did not want to be one of those people. I felt as though I had to do everything, right, and get the approval of God, get God's permission. And so oftentimes, I'd be asked to do things. And if I didn't even say it necessarily, I thought, well, you know, I better know that this is the will of God before I make this decision. So first, taking your job, moving anything, I was always looking for the will of God. Now, where this started to kind of come on done for me was when I started to really expand my spiritual journey, and I started to have more of an awakening, I started to realize that there was an undercurrent for me, and that was that I needed permission, I needed permission to do anything. And so that permission, you know, ultimately came from God.

But oftentimes in my life, it had also come from people who I trusted leaders, people who I felt were stronger in the faith than I was. And I was always looking outside of myself for permission to do anything. So when it came time to growing my business, and it came time to really wanting to be successful in my business, I was always looking outside of myself for permission to do anything in my life. So I would hire coaches, I would, you know, get in masterminds, I'd be in programs. And even though I didn't really understand that I was doing this, per se, I had a subconscious belief that I needed someone else's permission or approval to succeed or to make a decision in anything. Now, that's my story. That is something that has happened to me in my life, but maybe you are struggling with or have struggled with something similar in the sense where you are always looking outside of yourself to make decisions. You want to know that the decision you're making is the right one.

So you're going to you know, someone you trust, you're going to your partner, you're going to your family members, you're going to a coach or a mentor and asking them what should I do? What do you think is the best possible option for myself? And when you do that, when you are consistently looking outside of yourself, you are reinforcing this belief that you need per Mission to succeed, you need permission to make decisions, you need someone else's approval and that you have to consistently go outside of yourself. Now I want to, you know, really pose a question for you. What if you took an entire week or maybe even a month? And absolutely everything you did was? Because you made the decision that you did not go outside of yourself for any reason at all. I wonder what would happen? What would be the outcome? Well, you might think, well, first of all, I would be, you know, confused, I would like clarity. And some of those things might happen, because your subconscious is used to getting information from other sources.

And so really getting clear on things would be probably a first for you. But as you did it, and as you started to stay in that, as you started to want, make one decision and then make another decision and then make another decision, you would find that eventually, you were starting to source your own permission and approval for things in your life. And I've been thinking about that, you know, just even for me lately, because last year, I talked a lot about really looking outside of myself. And when I was talking to my client this week, and she said, You know, it's really, you know, this, this fear that I have, that I need someone's permission really stems back from my Christian faith. And here's the thing from anything that you believe in should be supportive of, really you co creating with God, with source with universe, because this whole notion of one entity telling you what to do, is is really going to take you out of the driver's seat now in many interpretations in the Christian faith, that might be seen as a sin. And for many years, I felt as though when I did anything outside of what God wanted me to do that it was sinful.

And so I had to really release myself from that. And then further to that I had to release myself from you know, what my parents thought. And then I had to release myself from what my leaders thought, and then I had to release myself from what my friends thought or what my coaches thought, or, I mean, on and on and on it went. Because once there was an opening, I was filling it with someone else and wanting someone else's opinion. But what if you spent one week or maybe even 30 days, really just sourcing your own permission? Now, having said that, I do remember one time being with some friends, and we were on a trip, and one of the girls was actually talking to her husband, and they were interested in buying property. And I mean, it was really hard to not overhear this conversation. But they were talking about the fact that the husband had in fact gone to their lead pastor and asked what his opinion was on whether or not they should purchase this property. And his opinion was that they should not, but they really wanted to buy the property. And I could hear the angst in her voice when she was trying to figure out whether or not they should do this, because they wanted to be submissive, they wanted to be, you know, really listening to their leadership. And yet, at the end of the day, they knew that this was a really sound, financial investment. And spoiler alert, they did end up buying the property. And they did end up having a sound investment with the property.

But here's the thing, just even the fact that they were asking someone else's opinion, and not really listening to their own intuition, was something that was a red flag. And I noticed it right away. And so in my life, I have been kind of looking for those little red flags along the way because they will present themselves in different scenarios within my life and for you, they will probably present themselves in different ways to you as well. So when you're looking to source your own success, you will be sitting back listening to your own intuition and thinking about what is going to work best for you. So whether you're looking to be in a relationship to move to build your business, to really make a sound financial investment from And I want to encourage you what ever it is that you are doing.

Listen to that still small voice trust that you are co creating with God and that everything is working out on your behalf. And further to that, even if it doesn't work out exactly as you had planned, there is going to be a lesson for growth and expansion along the way. So nothing is lost doesn't matter if you have a plan B, C, D, E, F G does not matter. Just listen to your own intuition and let it lead the way.

So friend that is my encouragement for you as you begin the year. Give yourself permission to be successful. And thanks for joining me. Until next time, remember you have everything you need to live bravely. If you liked this episode of The Couragecast, we'd love to hear from you. What I have realized in my own life, and what I am leading out of from here on out, is the understanding that I am guided by my own intuitive authority.

You will only manifest into your reality what you expect to receive. So what are you truly expecting to manifest into your life and business?

Over the years I have set intentions for what I desired, I have chosen a word of the year -- I've pretty much done it all. And I have to say that I've had success doing that. But when I started to align my expectations with my desires absolutely everything changed for me.

Bob Proctor says this, "Develop a clear image of what you really want and get emotionally involved with that image. Then you can use your will power and persistence to get the results you truly want."

Today on 'The Couragecast', I'm going to share with you the magic of creating Intentions and setting your Expectations to receive what you truly desire.

And then I'm gonna leave you with a takeaway at the end of the podcast today so that you can implement this into your life.

So at the beginning of the podcast today, I shared with you a Bob Proctor, quote, I love Bob Proctor. I really do. It is such, it's so sad that he is no longer with us. If you have never heard of Bob Proctor, I would highly suggest that you google him, YouTube his videos is all the things that he does. Because quite honestly, I have learned more about mindset and your paradigm over the past year from Bob Proctor than I probably have, in pretty much all of my life. He is just so amazing. So one of the quotes that I shared the beginning is develop a clear image of what you really want, and get emotionally involved with that image. Then you can use your willpower and persistence to get the results you truly want. And when I first heard this quote, I didn't really understand it. I mean, I knew you know that I needed to have some sort of a visualization of what I want. I knew that I had to have some sort of a feeling to add to that.

But I wasn't really sure how all of that worked together. And that's really like the magic sauce. It really truly is and over the past year as I have been really diving into manifestation and under Standing what it means, and really kind of taking out the, you know, woowoo weirdness of the whole thing and understanding how it works scientifically how it works, with your subconscious mind, all of those things, I have really begun to understand how you can put these principles together. And the reason why I want to share this with you is because it is a game changer. It has changed my life, it has given me a clearer understanding to really call into my life, what I desire, and not only call into my life, but call into my business. And here's the thing, when I took a look back at the things I had manifested, or things that I had called into my reality, I noticed that what I was focusing on what I was placing my attention on, I called in actually came into being.

But what I did not realize was that I was actually using these principles in a way that I didn't want to be using them. So I had to actually take a look at how could I use them for good instead of using them in a way that was not really serving me. So I want to start the podcast today by asking you a question. What are you expecting this new year. So as I've been scrolling through social media, which is always always not a good idea, I have been reading that there's so many people who poopoo the idea of setting intentions or making goals for the year. And here's the thing, friend, I say to each his own, like really honestly, like you do your thing. But when it comes to expecting something to happen in your life, I want to be crystal clear in my own life, and in my own business, about what I desire, and then hold the expectation to receive that. So when I think about not setting expectations and intentions, and having no idea what I want, or aligning my expectations with that, that sounds completely ridiculous to me. Because if I don't have anything, then I should basically expect to receive a whole lot of nothing.

And so if you are listening to people who are like, you know, don't set an expectation, and bla bla bla bla bla, bla, honestly, friend, what are they receiving in their life, and here's, here's the thing, you're going to receive no matter what, but you're going to receive what you are focusing on, and what you're putting your attention towards. So I encourage you to be clear about that, to know exactly what it is that you desire, and what you are expecting to manifest into your life. And this year on the podcast in 2022, I talk a lot about setting intentions. And I talked about how that worked in my life and in my business. But this year, I want to focus a little bit differently. And I want to just really share with you how you can set intentions and also align them with your expectations. And this means for me personally, how I want to show up for myself, how I want to show up for my loved ones for my community, my clients, my business. And the importance for me of setting intentions for what I desire is really going to be what brings forth what I desire. And the expectations I have are going to be how that manifests into my life. So think of it this way. setting intentions for what you desire is really the important part of really getting crystal clear. But then you have to be in a posture of expectation.

Because if you don't really believe that it can happen for you, then it doesn't matter if you set an intention, because you have to have the expectation as well. So does this mean that everything is going to go the way you want it to go? And I've asked myself that question over and over again. Is this mean that when I set my intentions, and I align my expectations with my intentions, that I'm going to get everything I want exactly how I want Well, I am going to say probably an not. But here's the thing. It's not about the outcome. Now, I know that sounds very counterproductive to what I'm talking about. But it's really about the response that we are having to what happens in our lives. And knowing that the universe at God, source Divine is working on your behalf, to unfold what you desire into your life, and the way that it comes, the how that it manifests, is really not up to you. But you can set your desired intentions and your expectation to call that in. And so I encourage you, so whatever that looks like for you, when you're thinking about an intention for your life, maybe it's to make a certain amount of money to share. Or maybe it's to, you know, call in a love relationship into your life, perhaps it is just to show up in the world in a whole new way, or to experience healing and transformation in your life.

If that's your intention, be really clear about the intention, and then hold expectation for that to manifest. The how it gets there, when it gets there, the method it arrives, is really not up to you, you have to release that part of it, release that outcome, and just be available and open and responsive to it. Okay, so it's really all about your energy. And one of my clients I was talking to not long ago, we were talking about, you know, the energy of being frantic, or allowing, and you see this all of the time in the lives of people who you're around, maybe you're feeling yourself feels like, everything is just like, go, go, go. Like it's just like, all this energy is like bombarding you. I call that frantic energy. And when you're in this place of frantic energy, and you're just trying to make things happen, you're doing doing doing doing doing, it's not the posture of allowing, it's not the posture of receiving, it's not the posture of being available to what source desires to manifest into your life.

So if you find yourself in this place, where you feeling frantic, you're feeling like oh, my gosh, I just gotta get this done. versus kind of being chill and relaxed and be like, You know what, I am going to make room, I'm going to create space to allow this to happen in my life, then you're going to see a huge difference in calling in your intentions and expecting to receive them into your life. So that brings me to what I am focusing on in 2023. And so I told you that I would share with you what I am going to be focusing on. And over the past few months, in the end of 2022, I really started to focus on my values, and my identity in how I wanted to show up in my life and in my business. And what we often don't really take a look at is that we are showing up a certain way. And we do have certain values that we are committed to whether we know it or not. And those things may be working for us or they may be working against us. So I wanted to get really clear about my values, and being so crystal clear to call them in to action them in my life, and I wanted to share them with you. So that maybe this can also help you. And you might find that what you have been valuing is really not working for you. And is really not going to support what you want to call in this year. So I am actually going to leave out what I desire. I'm how they actually can even share that with you today. I know that's crazy, right?

Like you're not going to tell us what you really want out of 2023 I feel like that's for me right now. That is something that I need to really embody for myself before I go out and share that with you. But what I will share with you is the values that are going to get me to where I want to go. So the first one is all about, get ready for this because I love it. soulful structure. Right? sounds sexy, just even saying it. soulful structure. When I think about having soulful structure, it's almost like I lower my tone of voice to say it. It really means having a plan and a strategy that serves me. And my business and my desires really where I want to go. And being aware of the energy that I'm in and the energy that I'm carrying, and the energy that I'm around and creating a system that serves that. So just in full disclosure, in the past, I've often tried to do things out of my masculine energy. And this is like, if you want to think about his masculine energy, you can think of it more as doing energy.

But when I would do things, to do them, just because I felt like I needed to be productive, and like, knock things off the list. I actually felt really exhausted from that. And there were many, many times in my life, even before I was coaching, where I found myself really burnt out, in in a place where I was trying to do so many things, often to win the approval of others, often to you know, move forward in my life in some way to you know, gain attention for some reason. But needless to say, when I was in that doing energy, it was no, no, it was not good. So, then what I did was, I swung the pendulum all the way to the other side to my feminine energy, which is like, more of like that being energy. But what I ended up doing, there was a lot of sitting and waiting, because I really didn't know what to do in the feminine energy. I knew what to do in the masculine energy, the doing energy, because I knew how to be productive, I knew how to get shit done. But I had no idea what to do in my feminine energy, in my being energy. So that resulted in a lot of just sitting around and being frustrated. Because things were not happening. I was hoping to manifest things and they were not manifesting into my life. Because I had no idea what I was doing. I was just being in the feminine, or so I thought, which is probably not what I was actually doing anyways. So for me, looking at this new value, for me of having soulful structure means that I need to listen to my inner guidance, and then take aligned action from that every single day, every day of the year, always be listening, and then taking action.

And when I look at my business, when I look at the structure of my day, I really went into this industry, not only to make an impact in the lives of others, which I really wanted to do, but also because I knew I needed a sense of freedom in my own life, and autonomy in my own life. I didn't want to be told what to do anymore. I didn't want a boss. I didn't want the confines of a nine to five and having to show up somewhere all the time, I felt restricted by that. I felt like I wasn't myself like I couldn't be creative in that environment. And so for me, it was all about having freedom. But freedom wasn't really even serving me, even though that's what will they value us. Freedom was actually having me focus on this nebulous thing, having all this empty time and space. But when I think about taking aligned action in my life, when I think about really listening into my inner guidance to guide me to lead me to help me make decisions, and then when I know that a decision needs to be made to take action on it immediately.

Honestly, I feel like that is exactly what I need. I don't need freedom. I need soulful structure. I need a little bit of routine. I need a little bit of structure in my life, I need to take action, but I also need to do it from an intuitive guided place. So the very first value that I'm going to be focusing on this year to call in my intentions is going to be having so full structure. The second one which is equally as sexy, I will say, is intuitive authority. Okay. So it's a little bit like the other one in the sense that it's listening to my own inner guidance. But I spent the better part of this past year 2022, beginning to understand a little bit more of my human design. Now I am a generator to four sacral if you are a human design person, you will completely understand that, if you've never heard about human design your life you're like, Well, what the eff is that?

Okay, so go look it up human design generator to for sacral. So for me, learning that one of my highest really, ways of functioning in the world is listening, and being led by my intuition. And I could have probably told you that long before I knew about human design, however, was I living my life out of that? Absolutely not. I was like, I have intuition about certain things. But I really was not letting that being be a guiding principle in my life, or in my business. Nor was I showing up in that authority, and showing up in that understanding that my intuition is consistently leading and driving me forward. And what I was doing a hate even to admit, it was that I spent an ordinate amount of time looking outside of myself for the answers. Like that is a for real thing for me. I can literally tell you, I could list off examples of the amount of times where I looked to someone else for the answer for me, only to come to realize that my number one guiding principle in my life was my intuitive authority.

What I realized that I like literally shook me to my core, do you know how much I have invested in coaches and mentors to tell me what to do. And it wasn't that I didn't need the guidance, or didn't need to learn from them. Or it didn't even need to be in their energy, because I needed all of those things. But you know, what I didn't need, I did not need to look for them, or look to them for the answer, which is what I was doing. Oftentimes, I would hire a coach or a mentor or jump into a program, thinking that it was going to solve a problem for me, which is excellent marketing, by the way. Because that is exactly what coaches are doing. They're showing you the problem, and the solution that they have to your problem. And what I have realized in my own life, and what I am leading out of from here on out, is the understanding that I am guided by my own intuitive authority. And leaning into that self trust for me, is really about helping and empowering others to lead out of that for themselves. Can you even imagine what is possible for your life? When you trust yourself? Like when you legitimately make decisions, and know that you are in fucking control of them? Like, you know that you know that, you know, like there is no other.

I mean, like, honestly, I'm at a loss for words, when I think about it. Like we are looking so often to have someone tell us what to do. And yet, inside, we know what to do. Are we acting on that? Well, hello, we're not acting on that. We're waiting for someone to give us permission to give us the approval to anoint us and say go for it. You know, but imagine what is possible for your life for your business. If you trusted yourself. Okay, full stop. That value for me leaning into my intuitive authority, I can honestly say even just by, like talking about right now, it is going to propel me forward this year, it is going to be something that just literally launches me forward. And I can even feel it by talking about it. So I'm going to be focusing on my own intuitive authority, can I get an A man? Okay, number three, this one is probably going to be the hardest one for me to talk about. Because we're going to be talking about money, honey, we are going to be talking about money. And, you know, if you've listened to this podcast, for any length of time, that I talk about money, and I talk about my own struggles, financially, and how I have been on a journey, really, to shift my mindset around money, like I really have.

And I'll tell you, the ebbs and flows of this journey for me, have illuminated so many things in my life, and illuminated the stories I've believed, illuminated, what I have made things mean about myself and about my business. And I take a look back at this year. And I look at some of the things I heard people talk about in the coaching industry, and just in general, relating everything to money and to success being about money. And when I wasn't making the money that I really wanted to be making, I assumed I just was not successful. That was that. I was like, Well, I guess I'm a big fat failure. Because apparently, you got to be making a shit ton of money to be successful. And when I started to peel back those layers, and I started to really take a deeper look. And one of my mentors, Vanessa, who really helps me with money mindset, she really helped me see this. She was She basically said to me, she's like, Andrea, if you were making the kind of money you wanted, would you be doing what you're doing now? And I was like, Yeah, hell yeah, I would be doing exactly what I'm doing. Now.

I love what I'm doing now. She said, Well, then why do you feel as though you're not her now? Like, you're not successful now? And I was like, Well, I guess because I don't have the bank account to prove it. And quite honestly, that shook me to my core. And when when I was coming up with my value for this year, I wasn't really sure that this is what I wanted to choose, because it just felt so not me. So it is creating money in abundance. even say it didn't seem nearly as sexy as the other two things, right? Creating money, and abundance, like being a massive generator of money and abundance in my life. And when I first started thinking about that, like my first thought my first gut instinct feeling reaction was like, oh, no, I'm going to be one of those people. And then I had to, like, pull it back and be like, No, Andrea, when you really truly understand being in the energy of abundance, it is like being wrapped in a giant hug. It's intimate, it is real. And yet, we have kind of perverted the idea of money based on our perceptions, and based on the stories we've been told, and based on what we see.

And the thought of being someone who can create money in abundance, at first was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, definitely don't want to be that person. Because I don't want to be aligned with that. But what I didn't realize was that I didn't understand it. The truth of being the energy of money and abundance is generosity. This is this big, beautiful energy, where I become a channel where you become a channel to give and receive money and abundance, the value exchange for things that we're doing and how we are operating in the world. But even just out of generosity out of gifts, and my heart, like my deepest desire, is to be someone who creates abundance for other people in every way, in your purpose, in your relationships, in your business, in your life, in your mindset. That's exactly what I want to do. So what does that mean to me? How am I going to focus on creating money and abundance in my life? Wow. Okay, I had to get specific about my money goal for this year, which I have to say, full disclosure, I have never done because going back to the beginning of the podcast, if I was not expecting to receive it, then I was not going to call it into my life. So I was very nebulous about my money goals.

I was just like, I'm not even going to talk about him. But my friend, that is all changing here now. Now, even though I am not going to tell you what my money goal is. There are people who do know what my money goal is, and I am going to be honest and upfront with those individuals, to hold me in accountability to what I have put forth. Okay, so yes, I have a money goal for this year. But here's the thing and get ready. I'm not attaching to that money goal. Even though it's a goal, even though it's an intention, and even though I am in expectation of it. Instead, I am attaching to the feeling that I am manifesting that abundance and receiving all that comes with that it's not about a number. I mean, we say a number because we need to be specific about it. And if you're into human design, sometimes you manifest in different ways generators, especially to for generator manifest specifically. So for me, it really is important that I get specific about it, but not to the extent that I am thinking about it nonstop. And that I am so like crazy focused on it. Instead I am focused on what it brings me manifesting that into my life creating money and abundance in my life to the degree I desire is going to allow for me to experience and be generous in my life in a way that I have always, always dreamed of being and so I can honestly say to you my friend that you know here I am December 30 2022.

When you listen to it, it'll be the beginning of 2023 January. And I honestly can say I want to look back from a year from now and be in this exact place rejoicing like being like Holy fucking shit I manifested this i co created with source of the universe God has shown up in my life baby, and it has happened. And why do I know that? Because I really truly believe setting these values for me setting soulful structure really being so intuitively led to take action and really outworking what my gifts and abilities are. Standing in my intuitive authority Knowing that I show up as who I was created to be, and creating money and abundance in a way that not only lifts me, but lifts every person that I come in contact with. So when I think about what I am expecting, in 2023, you better believe I am expecting, bake. So I want to ask you, what are you expecting in this new year?

What are you going to value in your life? What are the three things that are going to propel you further than you have ever been? And my friend, do not listen to the people who are telling you to not lean into this. Because if you don't lean into what you truly what your soul is calling you towards, you may be standing here a year from now, thinking to yourself. If only I had done this, if only I had leaned into this more. So I want to encourage you take some time set aside some time to get so crystal clear on what that looks like for you. Now have say, I'm so excited because I am actually going to be walking my clients through this process this year. This is something I'm adding into my coaching, I am super, super excited about it. And if this sounds like something that you are ready to embrace in your life, like you are like, yes, Andrea, I want to move into expectation not only do I want to lift out of the limiting beliefs, and shift those beliefs and stand in a new story, and be the person I was created to be. But I want to shift my expectations. I want to call in and manifest what I desire in my life and in my business. I want it all to be an out flow of who I am. If that is you, then I encourage you to jump on a call with me. And let's get started creating what you desire in 2023. To really blow apart this year, to change it radically.

From now until basically into eternity because this is going to leave a legacy for you and for those you love. I'm going to leave the link in the show notes. But you can jump on a call with me andreacrisp.ca/schedule. And I would love to partner with you and really help you move this forward into the new year. Friend I'm excited about 2023 I am excited. I am jazzed up you can tell I have never been more excited about something in my whole entire life. So until next time, remember, you have everything you need to live bravely.

So today on the podcast, I want to share with you how I have learned to keep my peace in the midst of unmet expectations being single during the holidays, and why I believe it's important to set an intention for what you desire to manifest even during the holidays.

Hey there, welcome to the Courage Cast. My name is Andrea and I am so excited. And not just because it's podcast day, but because we are merely weeks away from Christmas. And I feel like I have honestly been celebrating the holidays. Probably for I don't know since the beginning of November. That's what I put my Christmas tree up. I absolutely love Christmas. It is I don't know, it's just one of my favorites. But I used to not have that kind of love for it, even though I wanted to I really didn't. And a lot of the reason for that was because there were a lot of an unmet expectations. I don't know about you. But that seems to be the case.

So often, when we have big holidays, big family gatherings, when we're really, you know, expected to do a certain thing, show up a certain way, follow certain traditions. And you know, maybe we're living in a different way than our family. Or perhaps we're not going to be with family. And a lot of those things just kind of leave us feeling a little bit less than Mary. So today, what I wanted to talk about is I want to share with you how you are the creator of your own experience. And this is the holiday edition. So I want to start by asking you, How are you planning on spending the holidays? Are you gonna be with family? Are you someone who prefers to take a vacation to a sandy beach? Or do you just love like the whole cabin Christmas winter thing? What is something that you're going to be doing over the holidays?

Now, I definitely love having Christmas at home. But a few years ago, I spent two Christmases back to back in Florida, on the beach and not gonna lie. I loved it. It was awesome. I didn't think I was gonna like it at all it you know, it was really unfamiliar. I come from Northern Ontario. It's always generally snowing around Christmas time. And I thought to myself, am I even going to feel like Christmas like is even going to feel like the holidays. And I absolutely loved it. But this year, I'm going to be up in Cape Town where I live and this is the first year that I'm going to be spending Christmas. The holidays without my immediate family. What I know, can you believe it? I'm 48 years old never spent the Christmas holidays apart from my parents. Now I say that. And my family was supposed to have left about two weeks ago for Florida. They have still yet to leave and it is now December 9.

So at the date of recording, I am planning on spending the holidays by myself. So one of the reasons why I am not going to Florida is because of my dog coffee. And she's a year and a half old and she is a bit of a hurricane. And honestly, she's just not ready for that kind of travel and to be away and to do all the things and so it would just be a bit of a nightmare to try and navigate all of that. So I decided that I am staying put and I am going to be here over the holidays. But back I don't know about six weeks ago maybe I had a conversation with my friend Wendy and we We had this huge conversation around holidays. And this is actually was the catalyst, leading me to record this podcast episode for you.

So as with anything in life, if we have expectations around certain things in our lives, circumstances, events, holidays, or expectations really on what we believe is supposed to happen, what we think is supposed to happen, it's entirely possible that those expectations will not be met. And we will end up disappointed. So I wanted to share with you how can you really be the creator of your own experience. And this applies to anything in your life, but it can certainly apply to the holidays. So when I found out that my family, my parents, were going to be in Florida for the month of December, like I said, they still haven't left yet. Then I was like, Oh my gosh, I might be so lonely. And I started down this like whole rabbit trail of how possibly awful it was going to be okay. Like, it was like literally, one of those moments where I'm like, you know, worst case scenario, this that next, and I thought, oh, my gosh, Andrew, this is crazy. So I decided I was gonna get really clear create an intention, and how I wanted to feel over the holidays. So I was not really in control of what was going to happen, where I was going to be, who was going to be with me. But I really wanted to create an intention for myself so that I would have a great holiday, even if I was alone. Now, the beauty of this is that it's really not about what happens, it's not about whether or not I'm invited somewhere, or I'm spending a certain day with someone, or really what happens over the Christmas holidays or Christmas Day, Christmas Eve.

It's really about how I feel about the situation, how I allow myself to be within those few days. And so creating an intention for myself felt like the best thing to do. And we are the creator of our experience. So we can create what we desire. And it's all about being at cause and knowing that you are at cause for your life, you are responsible. You are in the driver's seat, you are taking ownership over how you want to be, and not being at effect not being at the mercy of what happens. Because, honestly, so often things happen that are out of our control that we just don't anticipate. And it could totally turn everything on its head. But if you already know exactly what you want to feel, during a certain period of time, especially during the holidays, then you're gonna be like, You know what, doesn't really matter. Because I'm going to experience the joy and the peace of Christmas, no matter what.

But for years, it was not like this for me, because I was someone who had really high expectations when it came to the holidays. And there were often Christmases, Thanksgivings, like just many, many different holidays, that I was disappointed, because I wanted things to be a certain way I wanted the circumstances to be a certain way. And he didn't realize that it's really not about the circumstances, it's really about our perception or attitude around what is going on. And when I really started learning about how we are deliberately creating our lives, and we can create with intention, then I started to see that no matter what the circumstance, I could decide how I was going to feel and how I was going to be no matter what happened. So I want to just share with you how you can do that. So perhaps your holidays are often filled with toxic family members or situations where you would just rather avoid maybe you have a propensity to want everything to be just so you want things to be perfect.

So you want everything decorated a certain way. You want everything to be a certain way you want people to show up a certain way. Or maybe you're in a position right now where you're like, oh my gosh, I'm going to be alone like no one's going to be around. Case in point myself. Maybe you are someone who has experienced trauma in your life, you know, it could be serious trauma, it could be small t trauma doesn't really matter. But maybe there are some fears of how you're going to be over the holidays. Maybe you're just thinking to yourself, you know, I don't fit in with my family, like they don't get me, you know, they don't understand what I'm about, or there's just a lot of complexity in the family dynamics, whatever you are going to be facing over the holidays, I want to let you know that when you create how you want to show up for yourself, and for the people in your life, and how you want to feel, then you can create that experience, no matter what happens. And really, when you think about manifestation, we attract what we think about.

So if we're going into a situation concerned or worried that something's going to happen, oh, my goodness, I'm going to be alone, how am I going to feel it's going to be awful, then it's entirely likely that I would feel all of those things. And I would have the worst Christmas, I don't know, maybe I'd be crying my eyes out all day, Christmas Day, who knows. So what I want to suggest to you today, is get really clear on how you want to feel over the holidays, maybe it's over a course of a few days a week, maybe it's just a day, maybe it's just, you know, saying to yourself, I really want to be at peace over the holidays, well, I don't want you to just stop there. And just say that, you know, I really want you to take a little bit of time and write it out. You know, put on some Christmas music, visualize yourself, enjoying yourself, and feel in to that emotion, feel into that peace and that joy, and allow yourself to compulsively create what it is that you desire.

Because I can almost guarantee you that when you really are intentional about visualizing and creating what it is that you desire over the holidays, you will feel so much better than what you might think you're going to feel like now. And the circumstances may even align for you in ways that you would have never imagined. Now, as I mentioned, it's December 9 Today, as I'm recording this podcast episode, so we're just a couple weeks shy of Christmas. And, you know, as I said, my parents were supposed to have left already at the beginning of December. So they ended up having some van trouble and then they both got sick. And so it's been delayed, delayed delayed. And you know, it was really interesting was when I first wrote out what I wanted to say on the podcast was weeks ago, it was well before they were supposed to leave. And now looking back, I'm like, Oh my gosh, this is so funny, because we've had so much more time together through the beginning of December to do different things, drive around, see Christmas lights, go to some parties together, do some things like I mean, it's just it's it's so funny because I create an intention about how I wanted to feel. Not saying I attracted them staying here. But you never know.

And,even I think I had said in a previous podcast about how I thought I was buying tickets to stars on ice. And then I didn't buy them accidentally. And so I was left without a ticket. And I just waited on it. I just decided I would get it at the last minute. And as it turns out, my mom's gonna be here. And she's going with me. So we bought tickets. And we're going to be headed tomorrow to see the stars nice holiday show. So I say all of this to say sometimes, it's really all about creating how you want to feel and how you want to be not how are the circumstances going to play out for you. Because you're not in control of the circumstances, how things are going to work, who's going to do what how people are going to respond, how people are going to act. But what you are in control of is how you are and how you can experience something because you are the creator of your own experience.

So I would encourage you if you're in a position in your life where you're thinking to yourself, you know what, Andrea, this is totally me. I might be triggered over the holidays, things might happen. Set aside some time to visualize how you are going to be over the holidays and really allow yourself to be in that zone, just be in that frequency be in that energy. It'll be what it will be. And that will be okay. But you don't have to be reactive to what is going on, you can set the tone for what you desire, and allow the universe to bring you what it is that you need, and allow the universe to bring you what you've created. So having said that, and we're since we're so close to Christmas, I want to wish you, your family a very merry Christmas. I just feel so grateful that we have been on this journey together. And we have one more podcast for 2022 which is going to come up next week. And then we'll be well into 2023. And I'm excited about that. So friend, I love ya. You're the creator of your own experience. You can do this.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays. And until next time, remember, you have everything you need to live briefly. If you like this episode of The Courage cast, we'd love to hear from you. And as you're getting ready to ring in the coming New Year, this is your invitation to take a look at every area of your life. evaluate what needs to stay, and what is no longer serving your highest good. Stay in this final episode of 2022. I am going to share with you my personal tips to releasing things in my own life. Pull back the curtain to reveal what I decided to release and why. And I will leave you with some actionable steps for you to take so that you can start 2023 feeling like you have the space and capacity to welcome in what you actually want. And not what has been taking up space.

Hey, friend, are you ready to take courageous steps to create a life and business you love? Welcome to the Courage Cast. I'm Andrea Crisp, Mindset Coach, Author and a multi passionate Entrepreneur. For years, I was afraid to allow myself to shine that was until I discovered that I could step into my own power, shift my mindset and take ownership of my own destiny. Now I coach women across the globe who are ready to own their life and make a massive impact. Each week I'll share conversations with amazing humans who have been willing to face their fear and pursue their purpose. I'll provide a blend of practical and spiritual advice to help you take brief steps in your own life and business.

Well, hello, friend, I cannot believe this is literally the last podcast of 2023. I have been reflecting for weeks on this year, and what has been and how I have grown in my own life. And I wonder if you have been to if you have taken this time, these past few weeks to really get honest with yourself about where you are in your life, where you are in your business, where you are in your finances, where you are in your relationships, and where you want to be.

And this is a perfect time for you to release, what is no longer serving your highest good. And when I say that, what I really mean is that there are probably some things that you did this year, there are some things you took part in, there are some relationships you had that were good, but they're not where you're going, they're not going to help you really get to a place where you desire to go. So today, I decided I'm going to kind of ditch all the notes, I am going to speak from the heart. And I want to just share with you, you know how this year really went for me. And what I'm leaving behind.

Because I know moving forward, there is no longer room for those things, because they are not serving who I am becoming. And I believe that you are also probably in a place in your own life where you're thinking to yourself, you know what I do want to transcend to the next level, in my life in my business, I want to expand I want to grow, I want to really grow my income, my impact, I want better, stronger, more intimate relationships. And you're not going to get there if you are doing the same things you were doing this year. But I first want to start with something that may be a little bit surprising. And I want to say this, you know, we can look for all the outside reasons and circumstances and things that we should let go of. But I want to start by asking you, what have you been holding on to about yourself that you have almost allowed to make excuses for yourself, where you've allowed yourself to make excuses for your behaviors, or make excuses for your lack of action, or make excuses for the fact that you are still doing the same things over and over again.

You know, when we're really looking at what is no longer serving us, we have to realize that we're in the driver's seat. We have to take ownership over our own lives, because no one else is going to do that. And when I was thinking about you know, leaving behind what is no longer serving me, the big thing that stood out to me was leaving behind the old stories, the old narratives, really the old identity that I hid behind for so long. Because I needed a reason to be where I was at, I needed to feel better about myself. So instead of trying to get where I wanted to go, I came up with reasons and excuses of why I was still here. When I think of what is no longer serving me, the mirror is really pointed at me. So I want to encourage you to really take an inward look at where you might be standing in your own way.

When it comes to having a thriving business, when it comes to really making progress on your financial goals, when it comes to developing those intimate relationships, when it comes to establishing yourself as an authority. What is the story you have been telling yourself? What is the narrative that has been playing out in your life, until you get sick and tired of that old narrative of that old story of those excuses of those reasons. Thinking that you're at the effect of what is happening in your life, you're probably going to stay the same. And likely having this conversation in another year, saying to yourself, oh, my gosh, I probably should have let go a lot sooner.

And that is where I found myself. For a long time, I wanted things to change, I wanted circumstances to change. If only this would happen, then I wouldn't be here. If only I could make more money, then I would have a better business, if only I would. And the list went on and on and on. So from my finances, to my relationships, to my business to really even my health and wellness goals. I always wanted to point the finger out at the circumstances, and not really take a look at where I was falling short, and how I was standing in my own way. So there are three things that I want to leave you with as you move into the new year. So the first one is to really take a look at what it is that you value in your life.

Where are you placing your attention, because what you value will be what you focus on, and will be the plumb line for the year. It will be how you show up for yourself. And just a few weeks ago, I sat down and I rewrote some of my own values. So that I could really get clear on how I wanted to show up. And when I started to look at those values, I realized that I wasn't showing up in that way. And that in order for me to do that, I was going to have to let go of my fear, I was going to have to let go of feelings of doubt, of insecurity, I was going to have to let go of uncertainty, I was going to have to let go of being comfortable. And those five values for me, are something that I truly want to live by as we move into 2023. And I'll probably share those with you as we move into the new year.

But I encourage you to sit down and really ask yourself, what do I value? And how do I really want to be in my life. And in my business. Because how we do one thing is how we do everything. And then the second thing is to take a look at the story you're telling yourself because it's really through our perception of events or perception of ourselves or what is happening or not happening, that we create a story or a narrative that we live by. And we get so used to believing that story and that narrative and focusing on it that we call it into existence.

And you might be living a story right now that you really are thinking to yourself, how did I get here? But if you trace it back to what you were thinking maybe 369 12 months ago, then you might say Oh, that's how I got here, whether good or bad, because it's all about what your perception of reality is, and how you are filtering that reality. So if you don't like it, then you're gonna have to start creating a new narrative, a new story for your life. It's as simple as writing it out, it's as simple as connecting with it, visualizing it, and really getting it in your heart, your soul and your spirit. And then the third thing is, who are you being? What is the identity that you're living out?

When I started to look at that for myself, I started to realize, when I looked, took a mirror to my life, you know, this is not really who I want to be, I am not really living out my fullest potential. And the reason I'm not is because I'm identifying as someone who has what I have now. And in order to create the life I want, and something that I desire to be in in the future, I am going to have to step into the identity of her now. And so it became really clear to me that I have to create an identity of the person I want to become the woman I want to become the business owner I want to become, and my focus has to be on becoming her now, not waiting for the future, not putting it so far away, that it's never going to happen. But realizing that truly any thing is possible.

So between really evaluating your values, and how you are going to move through the world, what you value within your life and business, the story you're telling yourself, and the identity you are living out, I believe that will shine a light on how you can create what you desire, and release. What no longer serves you. Now, having said all that, there is a few things that I do want to say, I want to tell you, you've come so far. And this is something that I've been reminding myself, you know, there's so much grace for what you didn't know already, and for where you've been and the things you've tried, and perhaps you've really, really been trying for a long time. And it almost feels like you're beating your head against the wall.

Friend, there's so much grace for you. Take some time to be grateful for how far you've already come and what you've already been able to do in your life. And recognize that when you know better, you do better. And now that you know that you want to create something even more spectacular in your life. And you want to have more impact and more income. And you want to really step into that identity of that version of yourself that you've always known yourself to be. Then release yourself. Release the shame. Forgive yourself, and really allow yourself to step in confidently to that next level version of who you are becoming. And let go of what has been bless and release. Because how you are going to step in, is really how you're going to create something magnetic in your life. So my friend, instead of thinking about all the things and friends and people you have to release from your life, all the opportunities, which Yeah, are great, and sometimes that is necessary.

The person that you might have to release is that old version of you is that former self, the one who has been holding you back, and there's grace for that. So as you're entering into this new year, I just want to say that you are very loved. And I hope that we can continue this journey moving forward in 2023 that you have the most blessed New Year.

243 | How Creating Room For Expansion Changed My Life And Business

WITH ANDREA CRISP

When you choose a word for yourself you may even want to take a deeper look at the impact it will have on certain area’s of your life.
— Andrea Crisp

Every year I chose a word for the year. It's something I have done religiously for the past five or so years. It's a word that I deeply connect with and something that I want to build my entire year around in every area of my life. When it came to choosing a word for 2022 I knew that I had some work to do to help me truly move beyond where I was.

The word'expansion' kept coming up in my life and when I sat to really think about what I wanted -- it was the word EXPANSION that I knew was what I needed for me to take the next steps in my life. Today on the podcast I want to share how I have allowed myself to expand and what that really looks like for me.

Your mindset is your greatest asset! But it is also what may be holding you back from taking that next step in your life. Are you ready to reframe your mindset so that you can step more confidently into your purpose?

Every year I choose a word for the year. It's something I've done religiously for the past five or so years, a word I deeply connect with and something that I want to build my entire year around. But when it came to choosing a word for 2022, I knew that I had some work to truly help me move beyond where I was, and the word expansion kept coming up in my life. So when I decided on what word I wanted to use for the year, the word expansion was the choice. I knew I needed to take steps in my life to expand in every area. Today on the podcast, I want to share with you how I have used the word expansion, and what that has done for me, as I've allowed myself to expand in my life, and in my business. Hey, friend, are you ready to take courageous steps to create a life and business you love?

Welcome to the Courage Cast. I'm Andrea Crisp, mindset coach, author, and a multi passionate entrepreneur. For years, I was afraid to allow myself to shine that was until I discovered that I could step into my own power, shift my mindset and take ownership of my own destiny. Now I coach women across the globe who are ready to own their life and make a massive impact. Each week, I'll share conversations with amazing humans who have been willing to face their fear and pursue their purpose. I'll provide a blend of practical and spiritual advice to help you take brave steps in your own life and business.

Hey there, welcome to the Courage Cast. My name is Andrea and I am your host, and I'm so excited. You're here today, oh my gosh. Today, I went for a walk to coffee out into the trails. And it is like about two weeks from Christmas, maybe even a little less. And honestly, it is so cold. Winter has descended upon us. And as I was walking through the trail, it was almost as if I couldn't believe that this is where we're at. It seems like just yesterday, I was starting off 2022. And I was planning out what it was going to look like. And here we are at the end of the year. And I wanted to talk about a word of the year, something that we use to really set our intentions around. Now I am someone who does take time every year to reflect back on the year. And I also plan out what I want to see happen.

Now I'm not meticulously planning every single detail. But I like to have some sort of idea. So that I know what is the roadmap and where am I going? And how am I going to get there. So this week, I'm going to be spending the weekend planning and reflecting on my year. And if you're somebody who likes to do that, I would encourage you to take maybe even a day to get away, maybe get alone, go to a coffee shop and just grab a coffee, get your journal and just sit and reflect on what has been what went well, what you'd like to change, and what do you desire for the new year. Now, it's not a resolution, I think that's something completely different resolutions are things that we use to say I will never do this again. And really, that doesn't work.

Because when we focus on things we don't want to do, we end up doing more of the same. So I want to ask you have you already created your word for the year have you set your intentions for 2023 This is the time you know, by the time the holidays roll around, you're going to probably be well on your way into you know, doing family things, maybe traveling. And so now's the time to actually take you know, an hour, take an afternoon, take a whole day, whatever it was whatever you want, and really set aside that time for yourself. Now, for me, the word expansion kept coming up in my life. And so when I was thinking about what I wanted my 2022 to look like the word expansion was basically the only choice for me. And I knew that it was because I wanted to grow. I wanted to really open myself up to new possibilities and I knew that meant learning more. It meant you know, making more room for things in my life. And the beginning of the year I actually kind of thought oh the word expansion is kind of sexy. And after the end of the year I'm like it is definitely not it is definitely not sexy. It has been while expansive. I have had an entire year of growth. So I always I always laugh and say,

Be careful what you wish for Be careful what you are intending on doing. Because when those things manifest, kinda like, well, I set myself up for this. So the word expansion has been the catalyst for change in so many areas of my life. And I hope by sharing my experience with you, that it will help you to create a word for yourself moving into 2023. But before I do that, let me tell you about my own process. So when I pick a word, I generally know that it's going to touch every area of my life. So I look at it in the financial sense, I know that I want to really be intentional about my health and wellness, my relationships, my professional life, my emotional bandwidth, and even my recreation. And now even just think about it so funny, like how the word expansion really has touched every area this year. So as I look at my year, and I look out, generally, what I like to do is I like to look at it in quarters, or 90 day increments, because it's easier for me to focus on 90 days at a time and really be intentional about that, and maybe know what's going to happen the next 90 days, but not be so in that second quarter, or that third quarter until the time comes. So for me, that's what I like to do, I like to look at it in chunks, the first 90 days, first quarter, second, 90 days, and so forth. So when I chose the word expansion, I knew that I wanted to focus on a couple of areas at the beginning, because that was going to be what was going to basically be the catalyst for everything else. So the first one was finances. And the second one was my business. And then the third one was my personal growth.

One of my big takeaways was how much I learned about how to deal with money, the mindsets that have held me back and how I have been actively blocking my own abundance, through my mindset and through the stories that I have allowed myself to really believe. And it was truly eye opening. For me, it was the exact expansion, I needed to put myself in the driver's seat when it comes to my finances when it comes to money, learning about money, learning about money mindset, learning about the energetic flow of money, how to call it in with ease, and how to really just be okay with money. And it's so interesting, because many of my clients that come to me, we end up talking about money. And it's one of those things where I completely understand and I, I know the barriers that we all face when it comes to money.

And it's one of those things that Vanessa has said to me and really to the group over and over again, is that it doesn't matter how much money you're making, you could be making, you know, basically the poverty line, or you could be making like 50k a month doesn't matter. Whatever you are doing. And however that looks in your life, there is money blocks that you are going to have to work through. So this is continual expansion. And the beauty of what I feel like I have been able to do this year with being a part of that cohort, unblock abundance, is understand that my financial journey and the expansion of my financial journey is on going. And I'm okay with that. And I know that as I go, I'm going to keep growing, I'm going to keep learning, and I'm going to keep accumulating wealth. So I love that. So it has been a complete game changer.

And, and as if that was not enough, she actually created a second program called unblock your business. And so we are now in the midst of diving into the expansion of our business finances. So it has really truly changed the game for me. Now the second place that I wanted to focus the expansion was in my business because I knew that I had to take a step back and see the big picture view of what was happening. And I had been trying many different approaches and many different things over the year. And I knew for me expansion meant learning about my business specifically and about learning how to sell effectively and how to create leads and cultivate community within my business, all of those things. And so the next area that I really wanted to focus on was in my business and so I enrolled in sales and social.

I had already been working with Gillian Murphy who is a phenomenal sales mentor and This container, wow, it was expanding, oh my goodness, the amount of things that she was able to teach us and I was able to learn about how important not only sales are for our business, but learning how to build relationships that convert into sales and how to not be like a sleazy salesperson. But to really offer impactful things that people really want to be a part of and are willing to pay for. That was so, so helpful for me in understanding how I wanted to run my business. And so I took six months of the year to really dive into this process for myself, and I know have still so much to learn when it comes to this area. But it was definitely something that I knew I needed to focus on. And the expansion that I had, because of it was e Norris. The third area that I want to share with you is really expansion in my personal life.

So it's hard to tie this one up in a nice neat bow, because there's still so many things going on. But over the past few years, throughout the pandemic, I feel as though I had kind of been pressing pause, I guess, or putting myself on hold. Because I was intentionally working in my business, I have been living in a rural small town in northern Ontario feeling kind of like, you know, there's not much to do here other than just work and be at home online. So that was what I was doing. But I felt the nudge, and a big nudge at that, that it was really time for me to start putting myself out there again and start to create community here where I'm located, to build new connections, and really to create a life for myself, apart from what I'm doing in my business. And you know, I've always been the type of person where, wherever I am, I can build community and I've have amazing friends in real life and have amazing friends online. But I have to admit that over the past few years, it wasn't easy, it was actually really difficult. And I really almost like got to a point where I was like,

You know what, I'm just not going to do it, I guess I'm probably not gonna make friends here. And I'm not going to have a community here in northern Ontario. So I'm just going to go ahead, put my head down and focus on my work. But that match was really strong, and I knew that I had to follow it. So I was allowing myself to lean into that expansion. And you know, as the saying goes, you know, when you are expanding, it is not easy, there is stretching involved, and it can be challenging. And so I decided that one of the ways that I was going to do that was I was going to go and join a community center, who that offered programs, workout programs, and workout classes, gym, pool, squash courts, all the things. And for me, it was so funny, because it was a very simple thing to do. But when I started going, it was almost as though I came back to life in a way that I had not really been experiencing it over the past few years, you know, being in isolation up here in the northern part of Ontario. And so I really, really started to see myself living outside of just my online business, which was amazing.

And I'm so grateful because I am now going to the community center several times a week, I'm back to going skating, and really just back to enjoying my life and creating something for myself. That feels really good. And I'm still allowing myself to lean into the expansion. But as that came that came towards the end of the year. So as I was focused on the 90 day increments it started with finances then moved into business, and then personal. And generally what I like to do is I like to do three things in a year. So that's how I focus myself. And choosing the word expansion, when it came to my personal growth is really where most of it took place because I had to move out of my old paradigms, my old thought patterns, the stories I was telling myself so I could see where I could actually create something that I wanted to live out of. And throughout the year as well.

This is something that I have not mentioned, but I was studying NLP manifestation human design, and just even doing that was so so helpful for me, because I didn't realize up until that point that I had such a fixed mindset, but allowing my myself to learn these modalities really has opened me up, to know that I have so much to learn still, and there is still so much growth. And I was noticing patterns in my life that I was able to start to shift. And that was all because of the expansion that I had really been intentional about creating within my life. So I wanted to share with you just some of the people who have been my expanders, because, you know, it's one thing for us to, to do things on our own, and to focus and be intentional about creating things on our own.

But it's a whole other thing to invite people in on the journey with us. And so I'm going to share with you some of my people, some of the the friends and mentors, peers that I have been walking this journey with. So the first person I want to share about is my friend, Stephanie, who I have been meeting with weekly for over a year, her and I met in fast foundations, and we connected we connected very quickly. And we decided that we wanted to be holding each other accountable. And over the course of our relationship, we have experienced huge expansion within our lives and in our business. And because we have been on a journey to learn and grow in our self development, and in our business development, we are able to really help one another see each other's blind spots. And it has been just a tremendous catalyst for expansion within my life. So grateful for Stephanie. And it's so funny because I have never actually met Stephanie in person. So I am excited for the day when that will actually happen.

Hopefully, it's 2023 that we will actually meet in person. The other two expanders that I have been meeting with are also coming from fast foundations, which are Amanda and Christina, and they are beautiful souls. And both of them. And the three of us decided that we were going to meet every second week, after we wrapped fast foundations, which was back at the beginning of 2022. And in our container, what we do is we talk about our businesses, we troubleshoot areas that we really want to work on. And it has really been an area of of my life where it's I'm able to kind of get granular and really talk about some of the things that are not working. And on top of that, we've just also been able to just share very candidly and openly about how we feel about business and what things are going on. And it's so cool, because Christina is in her 20s Amanda is in her 30s and I'm in my 40s and so we span the generations, so we have such unique perspectives to bring. And yet we are all so like minded, which is just amazing.

So both Amanda and Christina have been amazing expanders within my life. And of course, my wealth abundance buddies, my my wealth expanders, Vanessa and Tamiya, who we have been basically meeting over the past probably six months. So as I mentioned, Vanessa is my money mindset mentor. And Tamiya is also in the groups that I have been in with Vanessa. But what we have been doing is really connecting on the level of finances and holding space for one another in that area. Oh, my gosh, if you don't have someone in your life, who has a wealth expander you need to get one. This has been such a tremendous, tremendous blessing for my life. So I recommend that to anyone. When you are trying to make strides in your life, you're trying to move forward, get a wealth expander. So as you can see, my whole entire 2022 was filled with expansion, really focusing on my finances, my business and my personal growth, to really start showing up for myself in a whole new way.

I'm grateful for the programs and the masterminds that I've been part of. I'm just super, super grateful for the friends, the peers who are on the journey and are willing to do this work with me and walk alongside me I'm grateful for Stephanie for an for Amanda. I'm grateful for Stephanie, Amanda, Christina, Vanessa Tamiya. And of course, the mentors that I have worked with over the year, which at the beginning were Chris and Laurie harder. And at the beginning of the year were Chris and Laurie harder as well as Gillian Murphy. So, man, when I think back of this year, I am just so so grateful of how I was able to utilize my word for the year, and truly create expansion in my life and in my business. So I hope that this has encouraged you to be really intentional about creating a word for yourself. And for setting aside the time to choose the direction you want to go. Because Because where you put your attention is exactly where you will end up.

And so even as I'm saying that I am reminded myself to be so intentional about choosing a word, sometimes, you know, choosing a whole big path seems daunting, and a bit overwhelming, quite frankly. But when you choose one word, and just keep coming back to that word, and you know exactly what that word means for you, you cannot go wrong. So I'm going to be including in the show notes today, a free guided meditation to set your intentions for 2023. And I hope that it will help you to start on the path to really have the best year you've ever had in your life and your business, your relationships, your finances, all of the ways. So make sure you go to the shownotes and you can click on that link and it will take you to a free workbook and a free guided meditation just for you to help you as you are sorting out your plans for the new year.
