170 | Love Is The Resistance

WITH ASHLEY ABERCROMBIE

We have all these stigmas around difficult emotions and we do the same thing with difficult situations. With conflict, we think if things were going well and I was doing this right then there would be no conflict. And the truth is that in every relationship there is conflict and tension.
— Ashley Abercrombie

About Episode:

Why is it that we want to avoid conflict so much in our lives? With everything that is going on in the world right now (racism, gender inequality, cancel culture) we need to show love and use our voices like never before.

In this episode, we talk about some of the current events in our world like the conservatorship of Britney Spears, the injustice of Bill Cosby being let out of prison on a legal technicality, and what it looks like to love amidst so much conflict.

Ashley Abercrombie fought to overcome addiction, rape, abortion, perfectionism, and dysfunctional relationships to become an honest, whole, and free woman (most days). She wore a mask more than half her life and considers herself too old, and too annoyed to ever put that thing on again.

Ashley is a writer and speaker, with a passion for justice, particularly anti-human trafficking and mass incarceration initiatives. Ashley is an Executive Board Member of Treasures, a non-profit that reaches and supports women in the sex industry and victims of sexual exploitation, while training leaders globally.

Ashley is featured in many magazines and digital outlets, including Darling, Relevant and Grit and Virtue. Her YouVersion Bible study, Finding God in the Hard Places, has been completed by over 200,000 people. Alongside fellow author and speaker, Tiffany Bluhm, Ashley is the co-host for the hilarious and helpful podcast Why Tho, which debuted at #57 on the iTunes Religion & Spirituality charts. Her first book, Rise of the Truth Teller: Own Your Story, Tell it Like it Is and Live with Holy Gumption is available wherever books are sold.

Ashley, and her husband Cody, are nearly brain dead from sleep deprivation, but love their life, raising two incredible sons, Levi and Lucas, in the suburbs of LA.

All the creativity you’ve been applying to the old story about yourself you can apply to the new story.
— Jon Acuff

About This Episode:

How do you respond to the energy of others? Being detached from what other people carry takes real courage. We need to know exactly what we can give to others. We're continuing the Courage Creator series today with one of my favourite creative empaths -- Anna Ramirez.

Anna brings over 20 years of leadership and expertise in combining mindfulness, EQ, and creativity to bring the best out of people. Her Yale degree and years in higher education as an administrator provide insight into workplace issues. She understands the importance of clear communication and cooperation in order for teams to be strong together.  Bias and disconnection are areas that Anna can help any team to understand and work through in order to increase team and organizational productivity.

In 2013, she founded CreativeDisruptions, using her certifications in emotional intelligence and training in mindfulness to help others practice authenticity and creativity in professional environments.

All the creativity you’ve been applying to the old story about yourself you can apply to the new story.

About This Episode:

Most people don't know that they can actually choose what they think. Maybe you've been in a place in your life or business where the soundtrack that is playing is one that has kept you tethered to the past. Changing the soundtrack of your life involves interrupting the pattern of overthinking so you don't stay stuck in those old mindsets.

I'm chatting with bestselling author Jon Acuff about how to identify the soundtracks we've been listening to and be intentional about co-creating new soundtracks.

In this episode not only do we talk about the soundtracks of our lives and some of our favourite artists and concerts of all times but we also talk about how to identify a broken soundtrack, confirmation bias, and the three questions that you should always ask when you find yourself believing an old soundtrack.

Jon Acuff is the New York Times bestselling author of seven books, including his most recent Wall Street Journal #1 bestseller, Finish: Give Yourself the Gift of Done. He's an INC Magazine Top 100 Leadership speaker and has spoken to hundreds of thousands of people at conferences and companies around the world including FedEx, Nissan, Microsoft, Lockheed Martin, Chick-fil-A, Nokia and Comedy Central.

165 | Make A Bigger Impact With Your Story

WITH ALEX STREET

Either my new audience won’t accept me, my old audience will reject me.”
— Alex Street

About This Episode:

Are you ready to make a bigger impact with your story? I know too many women who aren't making the impact they truly desire because they feel insecure and afraid to reveal the truth about who they are and what they've gone through. I've been there. Today on the podcast we're starting our Courage Creator Series and the very first guest is my good friend and Story Coach, Alex Street.

We're pulling back the curtain on why most online creators are afraid to tell their story, what benefits they would have if they felt confident to share their own transformation with their audience.

164 | You Are Enough

WITH JONATHAN PUDDLE

Can we lean into the energies and the presence of all those parts of ourselves and say you are welcome, you belong, I need you, I will listen to you, you each have different kinds of wisdom to teach me.
— Jonathan Puddle

About This Episode:

What would your life look like if you took an entire year to discover your inner greatness? The moment Jonathan said that he immediately got my attention. Because sadly too often we don't ever take time to see the value in who we are let alone take an entire year to do the work that will help heal our body, soul and spirit from past trauma.

This week I'm sitting down with my friend Jonathan Puddle. Jonathan is no stranger to the online world. He's the host of a podcast aptly called, The Puddcast and he is also the author of a brand new book entitled 'You Are Enough'.

In this episode, we talk about self-love, inner healing, and what it really takes to move through spiritual reformation (or deconstruction as I like to call it). Jonathan shares openly and honestly about his journey with mental health and how when he started to experience healing - his impact became greater and he was able to share with more ease and flow.

162 | Why It's Never Too Late To Start Over And Become Who You Want To Be

WITH ANDREA CRISP

That’s the crazy thing about dreams — sometimes they don’t turn out like you plan.
— Andrea Crisp

About This Episode:

Do you ever feel like you're too good at what you do to enlist the help of others?

In this episode, we're talking about why going it alone never works, and being independent is way overrated. I'll be sharing what I've personally learned about asking for help and why I almost didn't ask when I needed it the most.

You've got so much to offer the world, and playing small will not fulfill your purpose. It will only make you feel less than and unworthy of what you have to give -- which is your gift, your services, and your message. Truth be told -- You can be good, but you can also be GREAT!
