We help develop kids minds, bodies and relationships while discovering Gods love for them.
— Allison Alley

About Episode:

We really do have so much to be thankful for in our lives. One of the biggest lessons I’ve been learning is to be grateful for everything even the hard things in life. And that I have so many opportunities to give back and make a difference in my sphere of influence.

I had the honour of talking all impact and living on mission with Allison Alley, President and CEO of Compassion Canada. Allison holds a Master of Arts in Global Leadership with an emphasis in International Development and Urban Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary’s School of Intercultural Studies and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario’s prestigious Ivey Business School. She lives with her husband and two daughters in London, Ontario.

Compassion is a leading child development organization helping more than 2 million children in 25 countries learn the skills and receive the opportunities they need to overcome poverty.

091 | There’s Power In Your Story

WITH ASHLEY ABERCROMBIE

Ashley Abercrombie.jpeg
Our stories matter. Many of us suffer in silence and wonder if we are alone in our pain. The truth about our past has the power to heal. When we are the first to share; the first to be vulnerable; the first to bravely face and overcome abuse, failure shame or addiction; or the first to forgive, dream again or be a true friend, it helps us realize that we are not alone an that we are not crazy.
— Ashley Abercrombie

About Episode:

Have you been honest with yourself about your truth? We all have a unique story to tell and no two are alike. Not only does our story have the power to propel us into our purpose but it also can help others realize their own healing and freedom.

During the episode sh*t got real and I opened up about my own faith journey and what that means for my life moving forward. Ashley was so gracious to make space for me to have that moment, guiding into my own truth.

Ashley Abercrombie fought to overcome addiction, rape, abortion, perfectionism and dysfunctional relationships to become an honest, whole and free woman (most days). She wore a mask more than half her life, and considers herself too old, and too annoyed to ever put that thing on again.

Ashley is a writer an speaker, with a passion for justice, particularly anti-human trafficking and mass incarceration initiatives. Ashley is an Executive Board Member of Treasures, a non-profit that reaches and supports women in the sex industry and victims of sexual exploitation, while training leaders globally.

Ashley is featured in many magazines and digital outlets, including Darling, Relevant and Grit and Virtue. Her YouVersion Bible study, Finding God in the Hard Places, has been completed by over 200,000 people. Alongside fellow author and speaker, Tiffany Bluhm, Ashley is the co-host for the hilarious and helpful podcast Why Tho, which debuted at #57 on the iTunes Religion & Spirituality charts. Her first book, Rise of the Truth Teller: Own Your Story, Tell it Like it Is and Live with Holy Gumption is available wherever books are sold.

Ashley, and her husband Cody, are nearly brain dead from sleep deprivation, but love their life, raising two incredible sons, Levi and Lucas, in their beautiful neighborhood in Manhattan.

090 | Can’t Fight These Feelings

WITH ANDREA CRISP

I used to bury my emotions because I wanted people to think I was perfect.
— Andrea Crisp

About Episode:

Our emotions are what trigger our thoughts, which trigger our beliefs and then trigger our actions. So if our emotions are completely running the show then you can guess what kind of ricochet effect that is going to have on our lives.

But when we are honest about our emotions and get to the heart of what they are trying to tell us then we can reframe any negative thoughts that have been causing havoc, and align our faith to believe for what we truly desire. Then of course we’re able to take action based on those thoughts.

So you see it all starts with our emotions, so don’t run and hide from them. They are there to guide you into the truth of who you are — if you’ll let them.

These blocks often can be linked directly to your childhood, to your family of origin and are the main source of anxiety and are one of the biggest reasons couples divorce. Money.

When I came across Vanessa Bowen on social media I knew right away that I wanted to have her on the podcast. 085 | How To Live Well When Life Falls Apart

WITH NIKI HARDY

Niki-Hardy-11.24.33-PM.jpg
If we are to breathe again in the midst of our mess, however imperfect, we mustn’t circumvent the healing process, no matter how much we’d like to. When we live in the pain of an unfair story, we grieve the lack of a happy ending. Yet if we rush to the end, our lives and our healing aren’t nearly as rich as God intends.
— Niki Hardy

About Episode:

My guest today watched her mother pass away from cancer, and then her sister a few years later. When she herself was diagnosed just six weeks later it left her reeling, questioning, and merely surviving a life that bore no resemblance to the abundant life she thought she would be living. Diagnosed with rectal cancer she began to face an unimaginable journey.

With humour mixed with grit and her real-life accounts of her own personal journey she began to pen the book Breathe Again; How to Live Well When Life Falls Apart. Niki Hardy unpacks seven practices to thrive, not just survive, no matter what life throws at us.
