Hey, friend, are you ready to take courageous steps to create a life in business you love? Welcome to The Couragecast. I'm Andrea Crisp, Mindset coach, author, and a multi passionate entrepreneur. Imagine setting aside an entire day for yourself a day to not only dream about what is possible for your life, but to take steps to unlock your limitless potential. Now there's something so incredibly magical that happens when you partner with somebody who is holding space for your growth and expansion. This past summer, when I had my own VIP day, I was at a point in my life where I knew something really needed to change. But I wasn't sure what that was going to be. And I had tried everything myself. I had tried to shift my mindset, I had said all the affirmations, I had repeated mantras. I did guided meditations and hypnosis, and all those things that are amazing. But still, something was off. And from the moment I said yes to the opportunity to have a VIP day and walked into that loft in downtown Toronto, something deep inside me ignited my fears of having to try and figure it out myself were completely alleviated. Because I knew that I was partnering with someone to help guide me through the process of not only creating what I truly desired, but to release whatever was blocking me. We took time to dig in to those fears and uncovered what had been holding me back. And not only did I have an amazing breakthrough, but I took action right there and then and uh, yes, it was a bit scary, and a bit uncomfortable if I am being completely honest. But for me, that was the moment that everything shifted into place. And that's why I'm so passionate about the limitless VIP experience. It's for the ambitious, soul centered entrepreneur who is ready, like I mean really ready to release old subconscious limitations, and to step into a strategic vision to create more abundance and confidence in every area of life and business. So if this is something that you really desire, and you know, you're ready to start embodying that next level version of yourself and to invite limitless potential, then I want to invite you to book a time to chat with me. Not only will you be empowered to call in abundance, with the knowledge that you can do it over and over again. But you will step into complete alignment with your higher self. And imagine the possibilities that can take place when that happens. You will feel powerful because you are spending an entire day completely focused on your highest good, my friend, this is your moment. This is time for you to truly take that next step and embody the next level version of yourself to gain massive clarity for your life and for your business.
Hello, hello. Hello. I am so glad that you're joining me today. It is the first day of fall. Now you are going to be listening to this podcast episode and it's probably not the first day of fall when you're listening. However, when I am recording, it's you know that crisp fall day here in northern Ontario and I'm pretty darn excited because I get to wear my boots I get to put on a nice sweater and cozy up. And there's just something about the change of seasons you know when the air is really crisp and cool. And we get to order the fall drinks. And I don't know, I just absolutely love it. And there is also something I love about the change of seasons in life. And even though those changes can often feel a bit uncomfortable, they are so necessary, can I get an amen? But so often we position ourselves in resistance when it comes to any kind of change. And I know that that is something that in my own life I have struggled with. And I'm really learning how to move through resistance and how to recognize when it comes right away. Because that resistance that we feel those, you know, old stories that we tell ourselves, that's really what is keeping us from creating what we desire. And it is also keeping us from truly being successful. And I wanted to talk today about the real reasons why we're not being successful. And it's not because we're not putting in the work. It's not because we are not hustling. It's not because we don't have really good ideas, or we're not qualified, or it is not because we're just not good enough. But those are some of the reasons why we think that we're not being successful. And so today, I wanted to break down seven reasons, seven fears that you might be going through right now that you might be facing and trying to navigate and trying to figure out, okay, well, like how do I move through this in my own life. And I have to honestly say to you, every one of these fears, I have had to navigate. And I continue to have to navigate, because every level of success that I have in my life, requires new growth, and requires a new new momentum to move forward. And so we can't stay still where we are and just say, Oh, I've done the work. And now I just get to rest and relax. It's kind of like no, I've done the work, I can enjoy the fruits of my labor. But there's going to come another season, where it's going to require us to again, move through some more resistance in order to really be successful. And I know that we are like rounding out the year pretty soon I was actually taking a look at the calendar. And I think today is like 100 days, to the end of the year. And it actually kind of hit me like a ton of bricks because I thought oh my gosh, I cannot believe that 2022 is almost over. I had such high hopes for this year. And and there have been amazing things that have transpired. But there is still time left. And if you are still in a place right now, where you're not having the success you desire, then I want to encourage you that you might be bumping up against one of the seven fears. So I wanted to break it down with the first one. Something that I really believe we all fear. And that is being inadequate, that somehow we are not going to be enough that who we are is not enough that what we know is not enough that how much work we're doing, or consistency that we're showing up with is just not enough. And that fear of inadequacy really stems back to our identity and who we believe we are. And when we don't have an identity of being enough in our in our lives and, and really, truly embodying this belief, then it's really easy to fall into that fear of inadequacy, the fear of not being enough. Like, let me ask you when's the last time one of those phrases went through your mind? Like, oh, I just don't feel like I know enough. Or I don't feel like I am enough.
Think back to when you were a kid. Was there a time in your life when that popped up? Were you in a classroom setting when a teacher called on you? And you maybe said an answer but it was wrong and all of a sudden you felt like you didn't know enough or you weren't enough. You weren't chosen for something. And those fears when we're kids root deep within us, creating a subconscious belief and that plays out In adulthood, it plays out in our businesses. And so when you're finding yourself saying, I'm not enough, I don't feel like I, you know, I'm truly qualified to be doing this, it is likely rooted in an old limitation and an old fear. So it's so important to identify what that is, and shift that perspective and start to take a look at how can I see this completely differently? Like, if you were to take that particular situation when you were a kid, and you were to take a look at it and say, like, what was really going on there? Well, maybe the teacher was trying to, you know, explain more, but I perceived it as me not being enough. And so, you know, when you're able to see a little bit of a different perspective on it, you can shift that mindset and start seeing yourself as Oh, I wasn't, if I just didn't know the answer, I was enough, I just, you know, hadn't been taught that. And so we start to see that inadequacy moving, and believe that we are truly enough we are qualified for what we have been given to do. And if you've been, you know, in this industry, the coaching industry for a long time, or you've been working, helping people, you know that when you have life experience, and when you have really gone through something, and you've had that transformation in your life, that qualifies you in a way that a book Never could qualify you, or a certification, or any of those things, right. So trust that you are already enough. The second one is a fear of uncertainty. Now I know in my life, that that fear of uncertainty of like, okay, what's coming around the corner, and oh, my gosh, if I don't have everything planned out, then I'm not going to know what to do. And we can get so caught up in being so far ahead, that we're not even living in the present. Now, you may be tracking with me hear me like, yep, that's totally me. I'm living three months from now, or I'm living two weeks from now, or I'm living in the past. And I'm not in the present, when we are not really grounded in the present. That is when we allow the fear of uncertainty to kind of take root in us. And it's all of these what ifs that seem to pop up into our world, like, what if this happens, or what if this doesn't happen? Or what if I'm not, and you fill in the blank, right. And so when we face those fears, and when we're in that place of feeling like things are uncertain in our lives, I want to encourage you to really get a bit granular, start small, and start to be, you know, thinking of little things that you can start to face right now, in the present and go, you know, what, when I'm present in my life, and when I'm setting an intention for what I truly want, I am certain of the outcome. And don't allow yourself to kind of go off in LaLaLand way, way out in the future, where you are creating crisis or trouble before it even is there because it may not ever surface. So really allowing yourself to stay in the present will keep you from feeling that you're in this place of uncertainty. The next one is fear of failure. Have you ever not attempted something, because you were afraid that it was going to fail? You're like, I don't know if I know enough about this, or I don't want to go live or I don't want to jump on somebody's podcast and be a guest. Because what if I fumble over my words? Or what if I don't show up in the right way? And people, you know, think I'm, you know, goofy or whatever it is. There are so many things that we keep ourselves from doing or attempting for fear of failure. And again, that's like placing something out into the future and saying,
Well, you know, like, I think I'm going to fail. Well, what if you aren't going to fail? What if you are, you know, just going to learn and grow and make regular mistakes like everybody else, and expand who you are through those experiences. It's really all about our perception of what it looks like to put yourself out there. And it's like, if you can shift that perspective from, oh, I might fail to Oh, I wonder what I'm going to learn. You're going to start seeing that there are so many things that you can do and that you can attempt and that you can try that you can try and you're going to see beautiful, amazing results come From those things. Now, one of the biggest fears that I think, you know, the youngest, the younger generation, maybe even some of the older generation, but face is this fear of missing out FOMO, right. And it's like, oh, my gosh, everybody's doing something, and I'm out there. Oh, my goodness, everyone's in a program, and I'm not in it. Oh, my goodness, everyone's hired a coach, and I haven't heard that coach, oh, my goodness, everybody has all these clients, and I don't have all of these clients. It's like this weird fear that what people are doing is really having an impact on you. And that you are at some sort of a deficit. And when we stay in a place where we feel like we're in a deficit, we actually keep ourselves from moving forward. Because we think that where we're at is not valuable, that, you know, the people we're surrounded by are not good enough that the coach that we're working with is maybe not as good as another coach. And we start to kind of get out of our own lane, and jump into other people's lanes, and kind of like, look around be like, Well, what's going on over here, the grass is not always greener. And when we are really paying more attention to what other people are doing, than what we're doing, we're actually not going to be out working our own craft our own purpose, our own zone of genius. And so this fear of missing out really, is going to keep you from your success, because it's keeping you focused on other people, and not really on who you are, and allowing you to outwork your own purpose.
And, of course, there's the fear of change. You know, I live with my, my parents, and I'm surrounded by people in their, you know, late 60s and 70s. And I'll tell you what, the whole concept of change in that generation has been so fascinating for me to observe. Because people of that age, they don't want to change, you know, the way things are done. They don't want to change the way how we live or the technology that we're using. I mean, they are good the way they are, and they don't want to experience any more change. And here's the thing, when you fear change, or when you fear the possibility that things have to keep moving forward. And that maybe you're going to have to find new friends are you gonna have to do things a new way, you're really keeping yourself in a place where you're not creating any momentum to move forward. And it stalls you. And I look at somebody like my mom who embraces technology, my dad too, for that matter. But she, you know, she's always constantly on her iPhone, and she's doing things and she's, you know, ordering things, she orders more things than I've ever ordered in my whole life. You know, we've got, you know, HelloFresh coming to the door, and Amazon coming to the door all the time. And she just really embraces how things moving forward. And I, I really applaud her for that, because she is not staying stagnant, and she is moving herself forward. When we don't embrace that kind of attitude. That's when we stay stuck. And that's when we don't have the true success we need. The next one is fear of being judged. Now, how often have you been in a conversation where you are like, I don't know, if I'm gonna share that with that person. Or, you know, I don't really want to let you know, my friends in on what I'm doing in my business, or I don't really think that, you know, my family would understand what I'm talking about when it comes to entrepreneurship, or being in the online space. And so we don't put ourselves out there. We don't share things in our lives because we're too afraid of what somebody might think of us. And so we don't do anything. Right. And we are in a kind of a mode of analysis paralysis, because we are fearing being judged by that person. Well, let's get real. Okay. If someone's judging you for what you are or not doing. I mean, honestly, if they've got time to do that, then is it really deserved pinion really matter? Does their opinion is really valuable to you? You have to get really honest with yourself about what it is that you want, how you want to create your own life. And once you know that, then take a stand on that and do not waver in that and when you are really set on what it is that you desire and creating that, trust me, when I say this, you'll start taking action. And people in your life will see that, and they will applaud you for it. And you won't worry so much about being judged. Because people will be like, Ah, look at what they're doing, how amazing. And then the last one I wanted to talk about is the fear of rejection. What if someone doesn't want to work with me? What if I don't make enough money? And all of a sudden, I'm kicked out of this group? What if, what if, what if right? It's again, with all the what ifs, because this fear of rejection, really is that people aren't going to want what I have to offer. They don't want me they don't like me. But when you're focusing again, on what other people are thinking, or perceiving, or what you think they're perceiving, you're not attracting in who it is that you truly want to be working with, and how you want to be living out your life out working your business, and really calling in all of the success that you want. So it's so important that when you're facing the possibility that you're going to be turned down, that somebody may not accept you that they might even turn their back on you, for some reason that you don't take it personally. And you're like, Yeah, this is a redirection. And now I can go in a whole other direction, free and clear of where that person is, or what they are doing. And trust that you are being guided to move forward. Because at the end of the day, your own success really is dependent upon you, and how you are outworking what is happening, the growth and expansion in your own life.
So if there's anything that I would love for you to take away from this podcast episode today is stop looking at the past or other people or their perceptions as an indicator for where you're going. Your future success is only possible when you start focusing on who you are becoming, and not who you've been. And if you are in a place in your life right now, where you're like, you know, I need to work through these limitations, I need to work through these mindsets, I invite you to jump on a call with me. And let's talk about what is going to serve you best to move forward. And you can do so by going to my website, Andrea crisp.ca, forward slash schedule. The link is in the show notes. And we'll chat about maybe where you're holding yourself back. What is that fear that is keeping you from truly embracing success within your life? And one question that I would love to leave with you today. Maybe you can journal on this, or you can just even think about it as you're moving forward throughout your day. But what fear Do you need to face in your life like if it was one of those seven fears? It was either inadequacy, uncertainty, failure, missing out change, being judged, or rejection. Which one do you need to face today? In order for you to be successful in the future? Friend, I love chatting with you. Let me know what was your takeaway from today? And let's continue the conversation. And until next time, remember you have everything you need to live briefly. If you liked this episode of The Courage cast, we'd love to hear from you.
