WITH ANDREA CRISP

Because as you take one step and embody that step, and that version, it just increases and increases and increases, you don’t have to jump right straight from where you are now to where you’re going. There’s going to be incremental shifts along the way, and you’re going to be able to move forward as you go.

Hey, friend, welcome to The Couragecast. My name is Andrea, I am so glad that you are here today. You know, I have been thinking a lot about what it's like when we are living in a mindset of scarcity. And so often we think about that in terms of money. You know, when we talk about abundance, we think about living abundantly We think immediately of our finances. And although I do talk a lot about finances here on the show, I also feel like there is so much more to living in an abundant mindset when it comes to our lives personally when it comes to our lives, professionally, in basically all the ways.

And so today, I want to talk about something that I feel like we don't talk about enough. And that is that you already have everything you need right now. Which means basically, you could turn off the podcast, because you already have everything you need. But unfortunately, what happens to most of us is that we're not accessing that part of ourselves. Instead, we're living in these old programs. And we are rehearsing these old narratives, these old stories, things from our past, maybe from childhood, maybe something that someone has said to us over the course of our lives.

And we're living out of those old stories. And it really stops us from living out of a place of abundance, out of a place where we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we have everything we need right now. And that you have everything you need right now.

Well, this became really clear to me when I started coaching, and I don't know that I recognize this prior to that, because I think I was just living more out of effect in my life. At that point, I was kind of living in a place where I thought things were happening to me. And you know, I was not in control of my life. I was not in control of my destiny. And even though I felt very purposeful in things that I did, I really felt as though I was kind of a victim to my life. While that has changed. I don't live like that anymore.

But it really took me being in this industry in the coaching space to recognize so much more about how I was living at a place where I was not accessing the best parts of myself, the most authentic parts of myself, the parts of me that were secure and safe and able to empower others. And I think that oftentimes when we start businesses, and when we get into this online industry, we think oh, yeah, like, you know what, it's going to be really easy. I'm going to just be able to make money really quickly. And things are just going to, you know, fly off the charts.

Because a lot of people on social media are actually talking about their lifestyle and how Of course, you know how easy it was for them. Which in reality, it's not, it's really not as easy as people make it seem that's just more of you know, smoke and mirrors for you to buy into the things that they're selling. But when I first started in the coaching space, I thought things were going to be easy. Like I had like rose colored glasses on I was thinking oh my gosh, this is going to be amazing. I've always wanted to be a coach and I got my certification. And I remember planning out how many clients I would see week like this is no joke. I literally wrote it down on a piece of paper.

And I was like if I had this many clients a day and then I'd have this many per week and if I charged some amount, I literally calculated hourly how much I would make. And I thought to myself, Wow, this is going to be amazing because I'm going to make more money doing this than I would at my full time job.

And so when I started coaching, and I just immediately thought, that's how it works like, right, you become a coach, or you get into this online space, and then right things just happen. And that's not what happened at all. So here, I was waiting for all the inquiries, just to like start rolling in emails to start popping into my inbox.

Nothing happened, nada. And here, I was thinking to myself, Oh, like, what have I gotten myself into. And that's kind of what I started this down hill spiral. And I was frustrated, I was frustrated and myself, I was, you know, giving into insecurity and getting into frustration. And there was this like, low level anger that I didn't even acknowledge that just kind of was there all of the time.

Because I thought things were going to be so much different. And I was looking for all of this external validation, I was looking for this external help and support in the process. And really, I didn't realize that everything that I needed, I already had. And I doubted myself. And I see so many coaches in this space, who are super qualified, who have, you know, amazing intentions, and really desire to help other people not really thriving, because they are in this place of insecurity, and doubt, maybe because of things that they've seen on social media, maybe because things didn't pan out the way they had originally anticipated. I mean, there's all sorts of reasons. But you might be in a place right now, in your own life. And in your own business, where you're like, I really was hopeful at the beginning. And I thought that I was ready.

And I thought things were going to happen so much differently. And now here I am, doubting myself very frustrated, feeling really insecure about myself. And, you know, when I was starting out, I didn't feel insecure at all at first, until things weren't going well. And then all of a sudden, I was like, Well, this must be me. And I'm, you know, doing things wrong.

And I started to play that game. And I started to, you know, let my inner critic rule my life and be basically, it really exacerbated what was already happening in my world, it just shone a light on it. And it was not something that you know, was created when I became a coach, it was just something that was magnified when I became a coach. And I think that's not often what we are looking at in our lives. But when you're in this space, in this online space, as a coach, as a mentor, in whatever capacity you are functioning as, really everything that you believe to be true about yourself is being magnified. And it comes to light, and it comes out to play. And if it's not really dealt with, then you're going to be struggling to try and figure out what you're going to be doing. Maybe hiring coaches, buying into programs, doing all sorts of things, to help you figure out how to sell more or be more all the things when really, it's an internal problem. It's an internal thing that needs to be worked out and solved.

So when I was in that place, I hired a lot of coaches, I hired a lot of programs, I didn't hire them, I just I bought into them. I mean, I have a list of a litany of things. I bought into things to help me build an email list to create a funnel to name my niche to create memberships to get better at social media, like you name it, I was buying into it. And I have to say like here, there are so many really, really good programs out there. There are so many fabulous coaches that are doing really good work. But if you're not in the right headspace to actually do the work and to hold space for what they're asking you to do, then it's almost like a futile attempt. And if you've ever done that, and you know what I mean? Then you're like, Yep, I totally get it.

Your mindset has to match up with where you're going. And if you don't hold space for that next version, that next level of yourself and of what you're capable of, then you're not going to be able to build a solid foundation for your business, for your coaching for your clients, in any way at all.

Sowhen I was in this place in my life, that's when I kind of, you know, started to see that debt was mounting, I was losing sight of what I truly wanted out of my business, I started doubting my abilities, my ability to coach even because I thought, well, if I'm failing at business, obviously, I'm a terrible coach, which was not true at all. The problem was, is that I had a lot of old negative programming that was just running in the background. And I did not know that I needed to address those mindsets that I that I needed to address those wounds. And I needed to reframe how I was seeing myself seeing others, seeing the potential in my business, seeing who I could be, and realizing that everything that I needed, I already had inside of me, I was just seeing it in a way that was not being helpful in any way, shape, or form.

So I wanted to share with you a few things, three things that I really believe are going to help you when it comes to just really building your mindset in a way that helps you navigate this industry that helps you move forward, that helps you be more confident in your coaching in your business. Because here's what they're not telling you, you are actually your biggest asset. Like you have everything in you right now you can build any kind of business you want. So doesn't really matter what they're telling you out there.

You can build whatever it is that you desire, you can move through fear while you're building a business. So it's not like you have to just stop and just work through mindset, you can actually do it in tandem, you can work in ease and flow and you don't have to hustle for your worth. And you don't have to hustle for clients. And it's not all about like work, work, work, work work, it's really about truly understanding yourself and understanding that you can call in the right clients, and then you can take aligned action to be able to call them in, and you already have everything you need. Right now. It's just a matter of activating it. So this all starts with your mindset.

So let's let's look at it in terms of like building something. So when you're building like a house or any kind of structure, if you're building it on shaky ground, then it's likely that it's not going to hold up, right, it might implode if there's you know, winds, high winds, it's going to be knocked over if you know there's a earthquake, it's going to crumble, if there is a storm, it's going to be washed away. Like I mean, think of all of the you know how we build structures, we have to build them on something that is concrete on some sort of real concrete foundation. And for you in your business, that means that your foundation is going to be built on you. And that all starts with trusting yourself. Trusting that you know that you can do it that you trust that you are capable, that you trust that you are committed to the process.

And that you know that no matter what you're going to figure out what needs to take place. And a lot of coaches lack that like that trust, they think, you know, I just need to do this or I need to hire this out or you know, maybe this person can help me figure this out because they don't really trust their own intuition, or their own decision making, or their own abilities to actually come through for themselves and for their clients. And so that that piece of trust is so so so, so important. Now, the second thing is that if you're building and you're focused on doing too many things at once, like I don't know if you've ever been on a on a job site where there's like, all these contractors are coming in on the same day. They're trying to do too many things at once.

Well, it creates a lot of chaos, and then things don't get done or they have you know, they get done with you know, shoddy you know, basically like shoddy I can't think of the word it's it's escapes me. workmanship, shoddy workmanship.

And all of a sudden, you know, it's just like chaotic. And when you think about your business in and when you're trying to do too many things at once. Like maybe you're launching a podcast while you're building a Facebook out group while you're starting an Instagram while you're trying to get clients, while you're, you know, doing all of these things, you're focused on too many things at one time, and it becomes overwhelming, it becomes chaotic, and you're not really able to pour or invest into something that is going to be lasting. So it's really, really important that, that you are staying committed and focused on building the right foundation, and building things as you go. And as you go, you can increase on those things you can add to, you can you know, start implementing more? I too, you know, I've been doing this podcast for almost five years. But I don't know that launching a podcast, at the time I did in my business was really the wisest decision.

Because I pivoted in my podcast many times, because I was pivoting in my business. So you know, when I think about, you know, when people ask me, like, should I start a podcast? I'm like, Well, do you really know who it is that you are speaking to, because if you're gonna continue to shift who you're speaking to, then what's the point of actually starting a podcast, you know, it's maybe like five steps ahead of where you want to be. So it's really important that you're focusing on what it is that you need right now. And again, that starts with your mindset. So staying committed to what it is that you are building in your business, trust, right, trusting yourself.

The third thing is, when you are on a job site, and you're seeing a building being built, you want to know that the contractors that are working on the project, that they've done this before, they're not like somebody who's literally just, you know, picked up a hammer and started to try and put something together. And so many people in this industry, tout that they are the experts in certain things. And, you know, that may just be good marketing, they might be making money, and they might even have some sort of lavish luxury, luxury lifestyle that seems like it's really bright and shiny. But at the end of the day, where is, you know, where are their results? Where's the value? What are they truly offering you and are they in integrity in their business. And so it's so important that you're getting support from coaches, from mentors, from industry leaders that really are walking in integrity. And there are a lot of them that are many, many, many I have worked with many of them, I see many of them. But it's so important that you are getting the support you need from those who are in integrity in their business.

So just kind of looking back, it's important that you lay the right foundation, that you stay committed to doing that one thing that's gonna move you forward, and that you get the support you need. And here's the thing, friend, like all kind of going back to mindset. This is so important. Because when you are building your business, when you're building your coaching practice, you really have to have the mindset that you already have everything inside of you that you need, you're going to learn and grow as you go, you're going to build the foundation, you're going to stay committed to the process, and you're going to learn and you're going to keep moving forward, and keep elevating to that next level and that next version of yourself, and you're going to do it with people who are supporting you, and really see how you can move forward and help you do that. So I hope that this has really helped you today. I think that you know, so often we're looking for that external validation from others, you know, pointing us in the right direction.

But what we truly need to remember, in this business is that, really, we have to trust ourselves. You already have everything you need right now. You can listen to your intuition and be guided by that. And trust that you know, exactly what is the next step for you? Well, friend, thanks for hanging out with me today. If we've not connected, I would love to connect with you. I'm hosting a free weekly zoom call for coaches and online entrepreneurs. And this is just a real great place to receive support, to network to build community with one another. And there are so many places where we're, you know, not really free to show up as ourselves and be authentic and kind of share what's truly going on. And this is a space for you to do that to do so it's called the mind. It's kind of easy for me to say it's called the mindset mentor circle. And there's a link in the show notes. I'd love to have you it's Wednesdays at 12pm Eastern Standard Time.

All right friends. Thanks for hanging out with me today. Until next time, remember you have everything you need to live bravely.
